Trying again after Miscarriage

Well for those of you who didn't read my post on Christmas, I have had a confirmed miscarriage :( After two BFP's AF arrived on Christmas eve and blood tests were run for comformation.

My question is, I have pretty much completed bleeding which is normal for me to be short (4 days). Would it be harmful to TTC again this month? My doctor suggested waiting a month because it is hard to tell dates otherwise. If this is the only concern I'm not sure why it would be bad to try again this month. Can anyone lend a hand with some insight ??? :)

I heard that if it is natural to wait at least one cycle and a dnc to wait atleast three cycles. Like everyone else it is true that you are more fertile and could quite possible get right back pregnant.

You're right, the doctor said that it does have a lot to do with how far along you were.  I was 16 weeks, so I am definitely waiting the two cycles.  But I'd imagine if you were less than 8 or 10 weeks, that you're probably safe starting earlier.

My doctor told me that you're more fertile after a miscarriage and after you have a baby.  In fact Kaiser educates their members on birth control right after delivery because the risk is greater for pregnancy.  However my girlfriend who miscarried told me that her doctor said that is a myth.  The jury is out on that one!

My neighbor had infertility issues - got pregnant after her 2nd try of IVF.  Her son is 9 months old and guess what?  She got pregnant naturally and is expecting baby #2 in May!  Looks like she was more fertile after delivery unless there is some divine intervention!  LOL

I didn't have a DNC done or anything, just a 'normal' period. So I would assume that nothing has been extremely hard on my uterus. I've also read that you are more fertile after a miscarriage?? I think I'm going to ahead and try again this month, nothing I've read has told me otherwise.

My doctor told me to wait two cycles.  One he said would be fine, but two allows them to know that the uterine lining is back to "normal."  He said that while a lot of women have had healthy pregnancies not waiting the time recommended, those who have not tend to blame themselves that they didn't wait or listen to the doctor, etc.  It's really what YOU are most comfortable with.

Good luck!

Don't you have to wait two weeks to have sex? I can't remember... anyway, many women become pregnant right away! GOOD LUCK!

Many people do try again right afterwards.  after my m/c I was told to wait three months (which in my opinion is way to long).  I know some drs say at least a month to get the lining of your uterus thick again, but many people have had sucessful pregnancy's not waiting.  Good luck!
