Is this what a miscarriage should be like?

I had a missed miscarriage two weeks ago. U/S last week showed baby, no heartbeat, at 7 weeks, she said it had been dead for at most a week, so that'd mean it was 6 weeks.
Doctor insisted I had to come in LAST Friday for a D&C, I didn't show because since I'm under 10 weeks, I figured I'd be able to pass it on my own and I just REALLY don't want a D&C.
Anyway, so it's a week since then, and I started bleeding Monday night, lightly. Quit bleeding early Tuesday. Late Tuesday night (last night), I started getting this HORRIBLE pain in my lower back, sometimes lower tummy. I couldn't sit still. It'd come and go, each wave of pain was about two to five minutes apart, and I insist that it felt like labor pains. They were so killer, but when I called the ER, they sounded like there wasn't much they'd do for me. So I just laid down, and after two hours of rolling around and whining, I fell asleep. Early this morning, I was bleeding a bit but in the last two hours, it's stopped again.
What should I do? Is this normal for a miscarriage? I haven't even had any big blood clots, just ITTY BITTY ones, and there were, like, only 5. I can't imagine I'd only bleed this much in a three day period. Think I'll bleed more?

I agree with mellipops.  you will need to go back to your doctor for at least an u/s to ensure there is nothing left to expel. If you dont and it is left untreated it can cause infection which would lead to infertility.

You may not need a d&c.  You were very early on and what was in your uterus was small so you may have passed it all.  I m/c at 10w.  I was given tablet to induce a natural m/c (your doctor should have given you this option) but I was warned that I had to have an u/s 7 days later to ensure all the matter was gone and if it wasn't I would have to have a D&C for the reason above.  When I m/c I had 'labour pains' (I have never given birth before but that is exactly what I would imagine it felt like), what it is is your cervix opening for your uterus to expel the matter inside.  It was matter which was easy to pass, almost shot out of me and then a piece that was harder to expel and I had to push.  I think this was the fetus, I was further along and the fetus would have been further developed though  Sorry for the graphic information but I hope this helps you with what has happened you in the last few days.

Definitely go back to your doctor and be prepared that you may have to have a d&c.

All the best

Hi, You probably still need a D&c to clear out all by products of the pregnancy. With a missed miscarriage it means your body hasn't responded and dispelled the products naturally. I had three missed miscarriages and needed a D&C each time. Hope this helps. You probably should go back to the DR and just explain you weren't ready but you are now. Take care
