Blood and cramps at 5 weeks

HI.

I'm 26 and this is my first pregnancy.

Last weekend I started having brown spotting with mild cramping at night. By Monday I was bleeding red blood and I went to see my doctor's assistant who said she didn't know why I was bleeding and everything looked fine during the sonogram. That night I had more blood coming out and very bad cramps. I stayed in bed all night and every time I went to use the bathroom blood would pour out ( a tablespoon worth). The next day I was still bleeding so I went into see my doctor who was there that day. While he was doing the vaginal sonogram I was bleeding. The doctor told me there was good news and bad news. The good news is that Gestational sac has grown but the not so good news was that it has only grown three days worth in 5 days. He still doesn't see a yolk sac or fetal pole. He scheduled me to return in 7 days. He said he has to be able to see the baby at the next visit. I'm still bleeding and cramping. The following day I filled a panty liner full of blood in eight hours, no clots. Cramping seems to  be mild instead of severe now. Does this sound like a miscarriage. I'm five weeks and a few days along. Thank You!

I am one of those ladies that bleed right though early pregnancy right up until 12 weeks. I had it in my first pregnancy and he is a healthy 5 year old, i then had 2 miscarriages and am now pregnant with my little girl and we also had bleeding in the first 12 weeks with cramping and clotting.

i was placed on progestorone tables to try and help support the pregnancy, they cannot prevent miscarriage, but they can increase hormone leves, so that if it is not a miscarriage, it will stop/control the bleeding to make it easier to manage. sometimes women dont produce enough hormones in the beginning to support the developing baby and changes, so then the body miscarriages. So talk to you doc about these tablets and see if they work for you.

I'm so sorry to hear about the bleeding & cramping.  Honestly I'd hate to say for definite that it is a miscarriage, but it does sound like one. NO ONE but a dr can tell u that for sure tho. Best suggestion I can make is drink lots of water to help with the bleeding, use a heat pack & Tylenol to help with the cramps & see your dr as he recommended.

HTH a little

Did they do a hcg blood pregnancy test? Doing one and then a 2nd one 48 hrs later is the best way to know. The hcg numbers should double in 48 hrs. If they are dropping, that usually means a miscarriage. You could request that so that you don't have to wait a full week to find out what it going on.
I had bleeding my last 3 pregnancies and unfortunately they didn't end well. The 2nd one the bleeding did stop and then start again. But there are definitely women out there who bleed in early pregnancy and go on to have a healthy pregnancy.Best of luck to you.
