i know i'm paranoid but... decreased fetal movement?

i'm delivering on friday and i'll be exactly 39 weeks then...  so today i am 38wks and 3 days.  i've been up this morning since 6:15 am.  i've felt my baby move here and there, probably enough for a nurse to tell me that he's fine...  but his movements are really soft.  i know their movements aren't supposed to be as big as before but he still pushes really hard when does move and today his movements aren't like that.  i've laid on my side and i've been sitting a lot and it hasn't made me be able to feel his movements any batter.  i also tried the prenatal heart listener i have...  it od course doesn't really let you hear the heartbeat but instead you can always hear his movements and even that was unusually quiet when i tried it.  is it normal for them to do this at this time or is this something i maybe need to bring to someone's attention???

thanks guys...  i guess i'll be off to the inlaws for a few days (ugh!) in just a bit.  they don't have a computer there but they don't really live but like 10 mins away from my parents house (i can't go there b/c my dad's remodling their kitchen and i have 3 small kids!) so i can slip by there to get on the computer.  hopefully if anything happens to me i'll be able to let ya'll know...  if for some reason i don't get on in the next couple days i'll be able to get on thursday night before i go to the hospital friday morning.

thanks again everyone!!!  :)

Glad to here he is moving okay.

As a side note - I have to have 2 NST every week and without fail, Jazmine takes a NAP part way though the test!  The test is supposed to take 20-60mins and I am always there for about 2 h.  She ALWAYS wakes up after the test of course........

Great to hear your baby is kicking around in there.  I always miss the kicks after my baby was born.  I am now 29 weeks and enjoying every kick!

ok...  i was able to lay down for about 40 mins and i drank a glass of water.  it helped!  :)  i had called the doc's office right when i layed down and by the time the nurse called me back, i had already felt him move enough times in that time frame for her to tell me that he should be fine.

why do they do that???  (the babies i mean)  they just like to stress us out, right?!?!

the nurse said that if he hadn't have been moving for me in the time i was laying down then she would've sent me to l&d for a NST.

so i guess he's ok...  and thank you so much for everyone's info...  that's why i love this board!!!  :)

ok...  i just came back from taking care of paying a bill and i have some time now to lay on the couch.  i'm going to get a big glass of either water or juice...

now i have felt some movement today...  its just nowhere near what his usual movements feel like.

but either way i will call the doc, too just to be sure.

I say call your dr's office and ask them what you should do, I think what dollchina said is a great idea or drink a big glass of juice.  Trust me you will feel better if you just pick up the phone and call.

You should def call the doc if you are worry, no sense of sit here and worry yourself to death.  I always say better be safe than worry.
There's this trick I learn, drink a big glass of ice cold water very fast, and check movements, the ice cold drink will "shock" the baby and wake him/her up.

i tried to lay down earlier to do a kick count and he wasn't really moving a whole lot.  yes, there is a difference to me in his movements today.

he did this a few weeks ago and they sent me to l&d to be monitored and of course he was completely all over the place once i got there so they didn't even have me hooked up for more than 30 mins before they sent me home.  i felt stupid but i'm usually one of the ones on here telling people not to worry about what the nurses feel and to just go.

i have to leave the house right now to go pay a bill that's late and then come home and get our things together b/c dh is out of town for work until thursday so we're staying at his parents so i don't freak out by myself in my last few days.  if this continues until we get there in the next few hours i'll call my doc's office and speak w/ someone.

thank you!!!

oh, and i'll also check the link you gave me!

Fetal movement does NOT decrease because the "baby is running out of room" - that is absolutely BOGUS.... Any time you notice a drastic change in your baby's movements warrants a call to your doctor.

Kennedy: have you done kick counts?  Here is a good link on this from the American Pregnancy Association:

http://www.americanpregnancy.org/duringpregnancy/kickcounts.htm

Finally, you know your baby.  If you think/feel something is wrong then call - it is better to be safe than sorry.  It is never a good idea to assume everything is ok or simply "not worry about it" when you have noticed something could be out of the ordinary as that could be disastrous.

maybe he is in the birthing position now.  But i would say if you are really worried about it call the doctor and let them know.  Its better to be safe then sorry.

Sweetie you need to relax! If you are almost full term he's not going to have much room to really move around in. I'm sure everything is fine. He's probably just squished in there sp?

Anyway don't worry about it! I hope you have a wonderful delivery!
