HCG Normal, Progestrone Low, can cause miscarriage?!

Hello everyone. My name is Yasmine. My husband and I have been trying so hard for the past 5 years to get pregnant. I got pregnant the 2nd month I got married and sadly miscarried 1 month later. Ever since then, its basically been *fingers crossed!* Well I went to 3 different doctors, over a period of 1 year, $4,000 later, to just know that i have pcos. I took metformin and some type of tyroid medicine for like 6 months. I finally got my menstral to come on time every month! Which was weird to me because of it never being normal. Well anyways I went on vacation to Jordan and went to a doctor there. Literally it cost only $5 and she did everything from ultrasound to bloodwork, and said that there was absolutely nothing wrong with me! Wow! Well anyways I got on clomid for 2 months and took 2 shots of HMG Massone to get my eggs to work harder. I didnt get pregnant those months but come to find out this month, which I did not take any medicine, I am PREGNANT!! 5 weeks and 3 days! Thank God!! I went to my doctor and they did bloodwork and said my HCG Levels were doubling normally but my progestrone was at a 7.6 out of 10 or higher. I am now on Prometrium 100g 2 times a day. I am just so scared that I might miscarry! Has anyone had some type of hormonal problems like this and had a successful pregnancy!! Please give me some type of hope!! Does this Prometrium really bring up the Progestrone? Any advice will help
Greatly!! Thanks so much!!

Your progesterone is supposed to be over 12 if you are not pregnant to show O and over 20-25 right at 4 weeks if you are pregnant I am not sure where you heard the 10? I had a luteal phase defext and my preogesterone was 6.4 when I O and the RE said I was lucky to even get pregnant. I was put on 200mg of progesterone 2x a day. The mext month I got pregnant but started it late becasue the pharmacy did not mail it on time then the next month I got pregnant again and I am now 19 weeks pregnant. The placenta takes over around 12-13 weeks and they shoudl not take you off it till at least 14 weeks but if you end up being like me I had contractions at 12 weeks casue that is when you start needing moreprogesterone and my body was not making it so they ahve me on 500mg cream plus the Prometrium. I use the cream every 4-6 hours and it has worked wonders. Lots of woman come off though at 12 weeks and are fine but you need to make sure he does blood work to see where you are before and a few days afterwards and you have some pills just in case something happens in the mean time. Also for them to check to see if the 100mg is high enough. My levels when I got pregnant were 42.6 at 4 weeks when I had my HCG done.

I have used the progesterone suppositories, the prometrium which I am taking now and the cream. They do all bring up the progesterone but if you are ahving contractions the cream is best to sue along with the pill as it goes directly to wher you need it. The pill goes through your system first and through your liver then to your uterus. So you have to ahve blood work to make sure you are on the right ammount. This is my 7th pregnancy and I have had 4 pre term babies. 1 of which did not make it. I bleed the whole time and no one eer told me why or checked my progesterone! I had my tubes tied thinking I could not give birth on time to a baby and would always be on bed rest and meds to stop labor. But when I told my new dr he checked me and told me why I had the probelms. I had a tubal reversal and have done great! I have had no bleeding except from a subchorionic bleed I had for two weeks which is totally unrelated. It healed by the way:) So this time has been great!!!!! The pill does work and best of luck to you!

Progesterone is given to help prevent mc,however if a mc is going to happen then progesterone wont stop it.ive had 7 losses, and it was only the last 2 times they put me on progesterone, sadly i mc 1st time, nothing to do with progesterone, this time i was put on it until 34 weeks, and still going strong.if given early enough it can help.hopefully they will retake your progesterone level later to check.relax and congrats..

Hi I know what you mean about medication. I just got off of mine in December and also got pregnant. Progesterone can cause miscarriages if not taken into account by your doctor. I am also taking suppositories for progesterone just to be on the safe side and as long as you are taking yours then you should be fine. Happy and healthy nine months to you!
