So this is my second day home from the hospital and people (well women who have come to see me and my baby) keep telling me that I shouldnt be walking that I need to cover my head .. Wear cotton balls in my ears etc is that a must ? Im a ftm .. They say that I need to take care of myself and watch what I eat or I can kill my baby seens im bottle feeding and also giving her my breast milk .. It is bad to sit for along time ? What are the things I should do and shouldnt do and for how long ? ...do I have to cover my head and ears when going outside ? ... Please someone answers me Thank you !

I remember hearing the covering your head and ears part from my grandmother. It was my understanding that because your body is going through a change it makes you a bit more vulnerable to rapid temperature changes. Like stepping outside if the weather is cold or windy after being indoors,  or the other way around. My grandmother really mentioned this especially to those who had just went through a c section. Other things not cooking also because of your wound and not walking soo much for it to heal quicker. Of course things are a lot more different now a days so don't worry too much, and as the others said take it easy and do what you feel comfortable with. :)

Unless it's snowing raining or very windy i wouldn't worry about covering your head. It's actually a goodthing to be up and walking around especially after birth you don't want to develop any clots. Do eat healthy and drink lots of water since breastfeeding everything you eat does get secreted into the milk if your supplementing with formula that's fine as well.

umm.. I've never heard of such things. Of course, if you are breastfeeding, you should try to eat as healthy as possible so your milk will be as nutritious for baby as it can.. As for everything else, you can walk around as much as you feel comfortable with. Covering your head and cotton balls in your ears? I have no idea what that's about. Don't worry yourself.. you are fine ;)

Where are they getting this stuff? Cotton balls in your ears? You're fine to walk or sit as you would like. I personally would never have baby on both breast and bottle that young. It can cause nipple confusion and hurt your supply. But you can live your life pretty much the way you did before, just take it easy for a while.
