Midwife vs Traditional Doc

I was wondering which is better? My insurance covers both but I have a higher deductible and pay 30% instead of 10% for the midwife. Does one have a better quality of care? I'm afraid I'll worry more if I choose a midwife because I won't have an ultrasound/sonogram every appt.

We only have one midwife office here but there are several midwives. I've had one appt so far with a traditional doctor and will have another next week and was told we should see the baby and the heartbeat. I can only see this doc through the first trimester anyways. I'll make an appt and see what the midwives are all about. On their website it says they have much lower c section rates. Thanks for the advice ladies it was super helpful!

There are different types of midwives mine is a cnm which means she has a masters or higher in nursing. She does hospital delieveries only and is almost just like a regular Dr. But spends more one on one time with you and is there for your whole labor and delivery not just when the baby is crowned like a normal Dr. Would be.

When you have a midwife do you go to the same place that your regular doctor would be or is it somewhere totally different? I'm new to this..

I have a midwife and I'll be delivering at a hospital. My midwife isn't the greatest but I shouldn't expect much because of the hospital she works at. (I swear anyone could walk in and say that they're a doctor.) But if I decide to have another baby ill definitely go the midwife option again, just at a different hospital.

I wanted a midwife when I found out I was pregnant, but then was so bummed to hear I couldn't because I was considered a high risk pregnancy. And even with my traditional doctor, I don't get an u/s every appointment. I've only had two. One at 7 weeks, and one at 18 weeks, I think I'm having another one next week though...

I have a midwife but I will deliver at a hospital! And usually you don't get an ultrasound at every appointment with a regular doctor anyways unless there is a serious problem with your pregnancy or baby. I love my midwife

I have a midwife and i like it alot better than the traditional. Its nice to be able to call or text her no matter what time it is and get a response, and the personal expirence is so much better! I love it. And as far as an ultrasound they can order one, its not good too have too many.
