I had my baby May19th and bled for about two weeks...on Fathers day I started my first period and I am still bleeding heavy...is it normal to bleed longer than a week and this heavy? Im not passing any clots just very heavy bleeding. I have been on Lutera birth contol and I am still taking my vitamins....It has been about 9-10 days already...I called my dr office but they cant see me until next wed

Yeah, I think it's just continual bleeding from giving birth. It can do that, on and off, for 6-8 weeks after giving birth. It's annoying! I know! It seems the more you do (vacuuming, laundry, lifting, etc.) the more bleeding that will occur.

In order to consider blood flow a new period there must be at least 20 days (I've said 21 days before on other posts and that is wrong, it is 20 days!) since the last time you had bleeding. "For the estrogen threshold to be met, you should not be bleeding anymore. Otherwise the lining is not being rebuilt, and you are still experiencing progesterone withdrawal."

So if you didn't have 20 days between the first day of your last period (Father's Day) and this bleeding then it is most likely not a period.
