Pertussis (whooping cough) vaccine

Has anyone gotten the TDap vaccine? Have you had it during pregnancy already? A nurse at my last visit last week mentioned that they had a meeting about administering them to pregnant women now, and that it's recommended, but my doctor's office hadn't gotten them in stock yet, and they said they were only going to do them until week 32. I'm 35 weeks now, and was only 34 weeks when I was told about it, and the nurse said since I wasn't far off, to ask my doctor to see if she'd still recommend it because I wanted to get one. Well, I forgot to ask with how quick my doctor walked out of the exam room.

If you had one, how far along were you when you got it? I noticed the CDC (center of disease control) recommends them 27 weeks-36 weeks, I'm hoping that if my doctor gives the okay before Friday (when I reach week 36) that I could still go get it. It's making me anxious! lol

Thanks for all your responses!

I actually got a call back from my doctor today finally, and she said that she recommended I get it done before the week is up since I will be 36 weeks on Friday, and the CDC (Center of Disease Control) does not recommend them past 36 weeks.

I've been trying to stay proactive, and do everything I've looked into and researched that is recommended. Plus it makes me feel like I'm doing the best I can lol

I got mine at 36 weeks. My doctor also said it is a new thing they are doing toward the end of pregnancy so the immunity is passed to the baby. Most have had it before and just don't know it because its combined with the tetanus vaccination and you are supposed to get it every 10 years.

Over here, they give you it between 28-34w, i got mine at 33w. The dose they give you is the pediatric dose so it doesn't hurt baby. Then they get their one at 8w x

They will usually offer it at the hospital after baby is born, or you can ask for them to give it there if they don't offer. The office I work at gives them at the 28-32 week appointment.
