Terrified

God knows why I did this but I just looked at photos of childbirth and it looks horrendous. I'm 33+3 and getting really nervous :( any ladies who've had the epidural recommend it ? X

Haha v good point 'spiket77' :D ... thanks '3rdxmama' well done to your though you must of been brave. I'd love to go natural, I'm gonna see how it goes and if I can't do it I'll ask for the epi but no harm in finding out what it's like eh ? (Except for a few tears and rips) lol x

The epidural is amazing!! It helps you be able to get rest before its time to push and makes the pain manageable.

I'm 9 weeks with my 3rd and did the first two with just gas and air! Quite proud of myself :-) don't get me wrong by the end of my first, after 18 hours of labour I was begging for the epidural but it was too late. My 2nd was only 4 hours and not as painful as the first but still hurt bad! Going for gas and air with this one, the needle scares me more than the pain and I've already done it twice so can't be that bad. Do what u feel comfortable with, it's ur body. Oh and I still can't watch anyone in labour, I suggest u stay away from those. All labours are different.

If you are asking what makes the epi so bad...
I just don't like the idea of anyone putting a needle in my spinal column. That is an important conduit in the body that I rather not mess with. HA!

Haha thank you :) I'll keep that in mind...needles don't normally bother me but what is it about it that makes it so 'bad'? X

I'm more afraid of the epi and the side effects than I am of labor pain. I had my son natural and will be doing it again this time.

I totally recommend the epi. It saved my life. Lol I had a speedy delivery I think BC of that. The needle kind of hurts but if your already drugged like me BC I had the pitocin then its not so bad. I'd would get it. And its not a horrific as everyone makes it out to be. Just do what the Dr says and you'll be fine. Oh dont make the scream noice when u push it tires you out more:) good  luck

I didnt think the epidural was all that bad. It was sitting a certain way on the edge of the bed while having contractions. Just close your eyes, focus and breath, and go to your happy place :)

A had a very quick, fast and hard labour with my first. Only 3 hours. No epidural. It hurt but it couldn't have been that bad because i'm doing it again lol

The shot to numb your back hurts worse than anything...but it's just a little sting.  The epidural is WAY better than labor pains lol
