When my doctor scheduled my next ultrasound, she told me that if we waited one week we would probably only see the yolk sac and if we waited two we should be able to see the yolk sac and the fetal pole. So, this leads me to believe that you can see the yolk sac and nothing else this early.
Yes, there was a yolk sac. That's the thing, I'm supposed to be 6 weeks. I don't see how it could've been off in any way. I wouldn't think my implantation happened too late when I was able to find out at 11 dpo.
I agree it is too early to determine anything during the 5-6 week period. You should go back for another scan in a week or 2 to get the full picture. I didnt get a fetal pole and heartbeat till 6 weeks 3 days. Was there a yolk sac?
Implantation can take awhile sometimes and cause your estimated date to be off. And since you are only 5 weeks that could be why the doc didn't see a heart beat, a lot of times they can't find a heart beat until 7 weeks so don't loose hope.
So if implantation was later that would cause the scan to be off? I found out I was pregnant 11 days after conception. At 12 days my hcg level 42.
I am somewhere around 5-6 weeks. I had an ultrasound yesterday and the doctor told me she thinks that I am just a little earlier than we thought (4.5-5 weeks). She said no need to worry right now as my hcg levels are doubling every 34 hours. She scheduled me for another ultrasound in two weeks. I had a miscarriage earlier this year and already my experience has been very different. From what I understand, it is perfectly normal to have a scan around 5 weeks and not see the yolk or the fetal pole. I would definitely want another ultrasound in a few weeks if I were in your shoes. I read implantation can happen up to 19 days after conceptions, which means you could be a week off and not even know it! Hang in there, I know the waiting is difficult.
