What can I expect??

My first ultrasound is in two weeks - I will be 11w3d at that time. Should I expect an internal or external ultrasound? Will I get a sonogram picture to take home? I am sooo excited... and wondering what to expect!! Any words of wisdom from those who had an u/s at 11 weeks?

My first one was done at I though 9 weeks but turned out to be 7 w 1d according to the ultra sounds tech. She did it vaginally even thinking I was 9 weeks because she said the baby was too small and we would not be able to see anything through stomach tissue, and I am/was only 130 pounds at the time so it wouldnt have been through a lot of tissue. So your first one may be vaginal, and may be both. Let us know how it all goes. :-)

i had an external at 6wks3days and they were actually able to see the little jellybean!  i thought for sure they would go internal.  but like the other girls said, it depends on the tech.  enjoy!!! :-)

Yup, depends on your doctor/tech.  I had one done at 10w2d and it was internal.  My next one (at 18-19wks) will be external.  And if the doc doesn't offer up a picture to take home, you completely have the right to ask for one!  I did... it's up on my fridge right now!

Good luck... it's so cool to see the little bean for the first time.
