I am not able to post pics yet because my computer won't read the cord that goes to my phone for some reason.
At the hospital, Jessie was jaundice so they had to poke her heel and do some tests. They came back high so we had to go the next day and have her heel poked again (twice because the lady couldn't get blood out of the first one) and her levels came back high again. We had to have her on a billiblanket (ultraviolet light) and had to go back the next day to have her heel poked again the next day. This poor little baby had her heel poked 5 times the first 3 days she was here. That test finally came back normal, thank god!
Now we have been having troubles with breastfeeding. First, I was producing soo much milk that I couldn't get her to latch on because I was so engorged. I went to the lactation consultant and got that taken care of. Then, because I was pumping and feeding out of the bottle, we had some nipple confusion and she still wouldn't latch on. Now I have gotten her to latch on, she gets on the breast, gives a couple of ***** and promptly falls asleep. I have tried everything to wake her up, and she is just not interested. So we are still working on that one. It has been frustrating to say the least, but we are still trying and I am determined we will get the hang of things.
If anyone has any ideas on how to get her to stay awake during feedings, I am open to suggestions!!
I hope everyone is doing great!!
