your plan is good... but opening a Salon is really, really expensive... raising a baby and opening a Salon at the same time could be Hard. but best of luck.!
Well I am a cna now and clean up poop all day at work, I think I could handle the chemicals better than I am handling the other smells of working in a nursing home! (:

My plan when I finish the school is to open my own salon. My mom has a degree in business management so she would handle that part of the business. My best friend will be graduating 3 months before me and her mom is also a hair stylist and owned a business before. I would focus on advertising and low prices when we opened to get a good clientele before raising prices a few dollars. I am actually really excited for the possibilities but since you have experience what do you think of my plan?
MY SISTER-IN-LAW WAS GOING TO COSMETOLOGY SCHOOL BEFORE SHE GOT PREGNANT. AT ABOUT 5 MONTHS THE SMELL OF THE CHEMICALS AND THE STRAIN ON HER FEET AND BACK BECAME UNBEARABLE. SO SHE QUIT. BUT USED WHAT SHE LEARNED TO WORK ON HER FRIENDS AT HOME. BUT EVERYBODY IS DIFFERENT. HOW THAT HELPS. GOOD LUCK.
as a Licensed Hairstylist/Cosmetologist... starting out was Really Really hard... if your just starting a family I wouldn't recommend it... with this industry you have to come in with a built clientele. I hve been doing it for about 3 years and it is finally starting to pick up for me. Choose Wisely, my first two years were a Big Struggle & I don't even have a Family.
