My doctor told me not to wake my baby either she said the baby would wake up to eat and she would always let me know...at night she ate about 4oz every 5hrs and during the day it was 4oz ever 2-3 hours. Don't worry too much I agree with bri they will let u know when there hungry and when there done don't force it cause they will throw up on u...just relax u will get use to it.

Actually my Dr told me to just let the baby sleep at night. Nothing to do with being used to getting up but that at night was their growing period.

Keep a journal with his feeding times and how much he had. When I formula fed this was very helpful.

Anyway, my youngest started eating 2oz I believe every hr to 2 hrs. Then after about 4 wks he was up to 4oz then he suddenly went to 8oz and stayed there since. They'll eat when they want and how much they want :)

Well mine came out 8'14oz and the nurses said because he was so big he needed to eat every 3 hrs. Didn't want to wake up to eat. Day or night. So we set alarms and fed him til he was done which was right about 2oz.
Side note for those who say don't wake them up cuz they'll get used to waking up at night, he learned to sleep through the night at 2the months. By then he was eating enough during the day we didn't have to worry about it.
