I am at 10 weeks but the baby measures at 10 weeks?

I had an early Ultrasound two days ago.  I should have been at 10 weeks but the Dr. said the baby was at a size consistant with 6 weeks and no heart beat was present.  I had a quantitative test conducted and after 48hrs it only rose 2,000 from 30,000 to 32,000.  My Dr. is concerned and wants to do another US next week, it doesn't look good; anyone have any insight on this.

I agree w. Avanaar and Joy. I think they have given great advice.

Keep us posted and good luck!

In later pregnancy your HCG levels will slow down and won't double anymore. However the ultrasound results don't sound as though they may be promising. Unless you really are not as far along as you thought there might be a chance that it was too early to see the heartbeat.

When I was nearly 13 weeks pregnant I had some brown spotting so I went to the ER.  They did blood tests and an ultrasound.  The baby measured 8 weeks and my hcg counts were way too low for someone who should have been 13 weeks.  I had what the medical community calls a missed miscarriage.

It is quite possible that your date was way off because your body decided to ovulate at a completely different time.  And at 6 weeks, it may be hard to see the fetal pole still.  So it's good that your doctor wants to do another u/s next week to see if there's been any growth and see if he can find a heartbeat.  Also, he will continue to monitor your hcg levels to see if they increase or decrease.

I do hope you don't have to go thru the experience of a miscarriage.  Whatever news you find out from your doctor, just know you have many women here who have gone through similar experiences ...and we are here to support you!
