make sure you buy organic cranberry juice and make sure that they have not added artificial sweeters or sugars otherwise it will make UTI worse stay away from sweets for a while and most importantly drink lots of water so you clean out your system. Anyhow their is pure cranberry juice out their but like I said organic is better a little more expesive but better.
take care,

-A UTI can turn into a kidney infection if left untreated. You would know if you had a kidney infection and since you are about to start antibiotics its unlikely the infection will spread.
-If the cranberry juice your brought tastes sweet then it will likely not do you any good as most sweetening juices contain very little juice. Cranberry pills are a better option but you should discuss w/ your doctor or pharmacist before taking those.
oh i am for sure i just got my meds and started taking them!
Well, if you haven't had much of the symptoms of a bladder infection (painful urination, the cramping), I'm not sure what symptoms of the kidney version you might get.
For me, I woke up at 3 in the morning thinking I had seriously twisted my back in my sleep. I tried a hot bath, and instead, after a half hour ended up crawling on all fours to the phone to call out of work. It felt like my entire back was on fire and pain meds (tylenol/excedrin) barely helped. They never sent me to the hospital, just a prescription. After 2 days of the prescription drugs did I finally feel like I could stand up straight. Two more days and I could function mostly normally and was back at work. But I'm sure that's different for everyone. I'd like to think they're going to monitor you a bit better with a baby involved.
how would i know if it became a kindey infection?
i just went a bought 4L of cranberry juice so i will be dinking that!
I never had a bladder infection while pregnant, but I did have one turn into a kidney infection. It took approx. 6 days for it to get that bad, after the first two of a bladder infection I scheduled an appointment. It WAS a kidney infection by the time they scheduled me in. But the meds they prescribed took care of most of it, I went back on my own for a follow up, and ended up on more meds as it still hadn't fully cleared up.
But for sure, Charity is right, cranberry juice is a good antioxidant. Just be sure to take the meds your doc says are safe and don't be afraid to go back for a follow up. I would NOT wish a kidney infection on ANYONE!!
well i dont know much about the rest, but when i had a bladder infection with my last pregnancy i was silly and didnt take any medicine for it, because i didnt know it was harmful. So i just drank loads and loads of cranberry juice...its supposed to help, and it helped me :)
