PLAN B - 2ND PILL TAKEN TOO LATE!

I have taken Plan B a few times before and it has worked perfectly fine...as I was ON TIME each time...
But I know you are supposed to take the pills 12 hours apart, so I am very worried THIS time.

I had unprotected sex 2 days ago.
I took the first Plan B pill at 4pm and woke up at 4:40am (40 MIN TOO LATE) to take the second pill!!!

How strict is the 12hour time span between the two pills in order for Plan B to work?

If I am pregnant (hopefully not), will Plan B complicate the pregnancy or harm the baby?

Don't worry it should still work. But like Laura said its an emergency contraceptive not regular birth control and it is only 85% effective so you still have a higher chance of pregnancy even taking it then you would on regular birth control. It can do terrible things to your body if taken too often and I'm sure that you want to have kids in the future so dont ruin your chances playing around with that stuff. Get on some type of birth control... when I was a teenager I really like the nuva ring.

Also, all Plan B does is prevent a baby from implanting, if the baby has already implanted it doesn't do a thing.

I do not think that you should have anything to worry about! Also if by some chance it did not work there is a slight risk to the baby but normally the babies that are born after Plan B not working are perfectly healthy! I also have to agree with LauraB78 you need to use a different form of birth control!

I agree look into some birth control if you do not want to get pregnant.

You should be fine. I don't think 40 minutes will make much of a difference. I would call the pharmacist to verify, but I think it should still work properly.

Plan B is NOT meant to be used as a FORM of birth control. It is an EMERGENCY CONTRACEPTIVE.

I strongly feel that if you do not wish to get pregnant, you should consider getting some other form of regular birth control.. ex: pill, IUD, SOMETHING.....

Good luck.
