PP bleeding

I was curious after delivery will the bleeding come and go in heaviness and colour? Within a week it had gone to a yellow colour and was spotty, and only got a little heavier when I breastfed. Now it's really heavy and bright red again no matter what I do. It kinda just looks like my normal periods would, but I know it's still not. (I'm almost 3 weeks PP btw)

I experienced the same thing. Bled for about 2 weeks, then it stopped for a few days then started up again for a  couple more days before finally subsiding.

Yes, activities and heavy lifting and strenuous walking definitely cause more bleeding. I think I just camped out on our couch with the baby that first month. It's such a blur I don't really remember, LOL!

If you are having a normal to heavy bleed at 8 weeks, then you need to go back in as there is probably part of the placenta still left inside.  they will just do an ultrasound to verify and then do what they have to do.

I was told that you will most likely bleed for the first week or so and then it will taper off... but at week 2 it will start all over again.  And it was so true for me.  I bled off and on (and it tapered off) over next 4 weeks.

I didn't know activites could affect it as well. I was told to rest often, but it didn't work that well. Thank you both for your replies!

Yup, normal. The more active you are the more you can bleed, too. You can bleed for about 6 weeks post partum in varying degrees of color and heaviness.

That is totally normal - it's even common to go as long as 5 or 6 days with no bleeding and then have the PP bleeding restart....this happened to me after my second pregnancy.  I bled off and on for 7 weeks whereas after my first pregnancy I bled for 4 weeks straight and then it just stopped.
