I also noticed that alot of people on this forum have had miscarriages. That is why I ended up on here. I think it is for reasurance and answers. There are lots of people who come on here who seem to have problems with pregnancy. I like to think that we aren't hearing about all the healthy ones as they never go looking for answers as everything is going great!
I wish I had an answer to why some women (myself included) have miscarriages and for others - oops, they're pregnant again (husband's cousins). Women I work wtih are healthy and for no reason cannot get, nor after IVF stay pregnant. No reason/no answers. In my case, the specialist is guessing it's low progesterone levels. I'm on prometrium and taking baby aspirin to see if that works.
when i was 15 i had my first pregnancy and it only lasted till i was 12 weeks then i had a misscarriage, one year later till the day i got pregnant again with my beautiful son who is now 6yrs old ,then 18 months later a gave birth to my beautiful daughter who is now going on 5 yrs old, now that im trying again i have had 2 misscarriages but im not going to let it put me down when the time is right i will have another baby.
One out of three pregnancies will result in an early miscarriage its really just the throw of the dice. What one of the other posters said is true alot of people come onto this site because something might be wrong and they want answers. I can on here when I started bleeding during my pregnancy.
The other ladies are correct. m/c seem so much more common now because of all the early pregnancy tests they have now. I had 3 m/c prior to getting pg this time. However, since I was seeing a specialist, they took my HCG levels only 12 days post ovulation. I probably would never have known about the m/c had I not had those blood tests.
What I found a lot of relief in was HOW COMMON the m/c are. Not to be happy that others are in pain, but it is a good feeling to finally know it is a common thing, and I was not alone. I was convinced all my eggs had bad chromosomes until I found this site. You will find a lot of success stories from women who have had multiple m/c.
Oh, and your question was not offensive at all. It is a very real worry we all have.
first off - i don't think you will offend anyone with your question - I would be curious myself if I were in your shoes. Of course, I'm one of the ones that found this site due to recurrent miscarriages, so I am actually one of the ones you are talking about. I guess we all came to this site for different reasons and maybe more of us found it after having problems than those who found it when just getting started ttc. I would try your hardest not to get upset or worry about miscarriage - unfortunately it is a part of life and it happens much more frequently than most people ever thought until they have come across it in their own life. Not being off birth control for long has nothing to do with mc....often we don't figure out what causes them, some are chromosomal, some are hormonal, sometimes we never find out why it happens....that is the hardest part. You are young - I know it is cliche and I hate to be that way - but you are and if you haven't had any problems yet then don't anticipate any unless you have some medical reason to think you could have problems.
Relax, enjoy the trying part and enjoy when it finally happens for you and try not to think all the bad things that could happen. Bad things can happen in any part of our lives at any time in our lives, we can't dwell on them all the time or we would be locked in padded cells afraid to face the world and we just can't do that! Good luck to you!
I was told by my doctor that you can try and conceive as soon as you like after going off of birth control. The reason they suggest waiting a few months is so you can get to know your cycle without birth control. There is no harm in trying immediately. As far as the many miscarriages you keep reading about, the fact is that many women will experience a miscarriage in their life. 50-60% of women alone will have a chemical miscarriage which is a very early miscarriage before the sac can be seen in an ultrasound. Before the development of early pregnancy tests, women would still have these miscarriages but never knew they were pregnant because it was still early on. Now with the development of these new and more sensitive tests, many women are able to find out they are pregnant much earlier than they used to. The reason it is called a chemical pregnancy/miscarriage is because you are only considered pregnant because Hcg is detected in your system. The new tests can detect very small amount of Hcg which is why women know they are pregnant very early on. Unfortunately, many women will have to go through this at least once in their life, not everyone but a good percentage. Also, I think a lot of environmental factors play a role in the seemingly increased rate of miscarriages. Anyway, hope this helps.
