I just wanted to bump this up, in hopes of finding anyone else whose husband has/had poor morphology, and I'm wondering if anyone else was able to conceive?
Isn't it bizarre that the doctor's say that low morphology won't pose a problem? Everything I've googled, said it will cause huge problems. But now I'm thinking that maybe poor morphology mixed with something else will cause issues. (and the rest of my husband's count was just fine)
I've only been off of bc for 4 months now, and I'm currently in my 2ww, so I'm hoping this is the month! My body has been taking some time to adjust after going off bc, so we haven't sought medical help or anything yet.
However, when my husband got his sperm count back, he told the doctor his wife's (me!) concern over being able to conceive with such low morphology. The doctor basically told him to tell his wife to quit worrying cause everything will be fine, but that if we haven't conceived after trying for 6 months, to see him. So, if I'm still not preggers in 2 months, than I think he and I will both get things checked out.
What I've read about poor morphology though is that it can be reversed through lifestyle changes. Smoking can cause really low morphology, so my husband quit that, and started taking vitamins. Does your husband smoke? I wonder if our husbands got checked again, that maybe it would be completely normal? I've read that for a semen analysis to be valid, that it must be checked a few times in a certain amount of days.
Sorry - I just wrote you a book! ;-)
Hi there, I have a question for you... seems your hubby's morphology is low like my husband.. and our doctors agree that its normal... which I totally don't get. Have you had trouble conceiving??? What have you tried so far? We had IUI's fail (6 - 3 medicated) and one failed IVF.. I think maybe we need to educate these docs! haha.
My husband had a semen analysis done before we were even TTC, it was because he was having pain "down there." Anyway, his results all came back great, except for morphology was only like 3% normal. Even though we weren't TTC yet, I still freaked out, cause I knew I'd want children someday. So, my hubby goes back to the doc, and the doc told him that his sperm was completely normal, despite the 3% normal morphology. Which confuses me, cause everything I read says that morphology needs to be at normal levels to conceive. So yeah, I'm really not sure.
I do! We just went to a fertility specialist yesterday (to find out why I have miscarried twice since Sept. 07). My husbands motility (the moving sperm) was 45% and it needs to be atleast 50%. Then, of the 45% of moving sperm, only 22% were of normal morphology (the shape & appearance of the sperm) and atleast 30% need to be normal. We are candidates for IVF because of this, but our specialist wants us to try again this cycle on our own. (I am not having a problem getting pregnant... which he says is good... its just that the less than perfect sperm seem to be getting to my egg first. Thus, nature is taking is course and riding my body of the baby).
So, to answer your question... I think that it could still be the sperm. I would talk to your specialist and ask him/her at your next appt. I really don't have an idea as to why this might be, but maybe it is a combo of your body not liking the embryos they are implanting and the sperm that made that embryo.
I am really sorry you are having all this done to no avail. Hopefully your specialist will be able to provide you with some answers as to why your body isn't taking them.
idk what to say. I've never heard of that!
Maybe someone will help ya out.
