Possible Ectopic

I am 5 weeks pregnant, and found out my HCG levels were good, started off with (12 dpo) 9, 4 days later 96, 2 days later 356, then they started rising slowly 2 days later 388 (on this day I experienced cramping and spotting it lasted 4 days) the 3 days later 419. My doc said levels are not rising as they should, the day my levels were at 388 and experienced the cramping and spotting, had an u/s done and doctor detected 2 cysts on my right ovary, she said they were big. I did have pain on my right side, but more towards my hip, but now have some pain on my left side. What could it be? Am I likely to have an ectopic or is there hope for a normal pregnancy? Spotting has stopped, and never experienced any blood clots or heavy bleeding, only on TP (sorry for all the details). Help! Going to talk to doc today, and not sure what about, ending pregnancy? Is there anything else that could be done?

even if it is bad news you wont feel comfortable unless you get get that second opinion then you will know you did everything possible and not just gave up.

I am not sure what to do, just went to the doctor had an ultrasound, and still they could find nothing! They also took another blood test, it was 1829, so levels are slowly climbing, but where is baby? My doctor said she did not see anything in my tubes, nor my uterus, I am so frustrated and confused, she also said, I may have miscarried, and want to give the shot to end pregnancy tomorrow if levels have not reached 5000 by tomorrow! Whats going on? My doctor does not think this is a viable pregnancy!

I am so confused, sad, and frustrated! : (

I think that if you numbers are only in the 1000's then it is a little too early to see anything. It is good that your numbers are rising like they are =) Most doctors don't expect to see anything until your numbers are in the 2000's. I didn't have an ultrasound done until I was 6w5d and even then the baby looked like a little ball (I still saw a heartbeat though) So another week and you should be able to see something =)

I had an ultrasound yesterday and blood work. My hcg levels had risen to 1089 from 649, but the u/s did not show anything, nothing at all, nothing in my uterus, and nothing in my tubes. Having another u/s Mon, dr said it may be too early to see anything. Should something have shown up? I was 5 weeks and 6 days yesterday. If it is ectopic would it have been seen in my tube? I am so worried, and pray everyday everything goes good.

I'd just go behind docs back n go to the er. I always get cysts when I'm pregnant. I'm high risk so I always have at least 3 dif docs. You'll be fine. Screw the tube. The babys what's important.

I am glad that your levels went up and your doctor quite insisting on terminating the pregnancy without any uncertain terms. I hope that your little one hangs in there and everything turns out to be ok.

Went to the dr. yesterday and did more blood work, levels went up a bit from 419 to 649, still not doubling, but I guess they went up, and dr. could not say anymore whether an ectopic pregnancy, I have a u/s scheduled for monday at the hospital, I am not sure why the hospital, when the dr has her own stuff for u/s maybe they have better equipment, anyway I am just glad she did not insist on terminating the pregnancy, like she had before.

Yeah that is definitely a possibility. Tell your doctor that you are not going to have the shot unless then do an ultrasound first! They can't stick you with a needle unless you give consent, especially not to end a pregnancy! I can't believe that they would talk about ending the pregnancy before even giving you an ultrasound! I hope that everything turns out well and your little one is a fighter =)

I also had my progesterone checked and doctor said it was good, I don't know, but my feeling is telling me to wait, doctors are not always right, they have said it themselves that a pregnancy varies with every woman, even in the same woman.

Thanks everyone, I have been so upset all day long, I haven't even had an u/s to look for the baby! I just have a gut feeling not to do it! I am so scared about my levels not rising as they should, I have read so many stories about people with low rising levels, but turning out fine. If I did lose a twin, wouldn't that be a cause for my levels not to rise as quickly?

I agree dont do it. Doc are wrong on this all the time.....they make this decision cuz they are afraid they will be sued if it turns out to be ectopic. They are only worried about covering their A$$ not your baby. Make them do another u/s. I see this all the time and the baby ends up fine.

I ouwld make them give you another us before ending the pregnancy!!!! cysts are nothing to worry about pregnant or not!! Also if your dr wants to kill the baby before even knowing that does not sound like a very good dr to me! Do not taek the shot till you know for sure!!! They shoudl see at least the sac in the uterus by 4-5 weeks along!!! You would be fine to wait that long. Like he said you might of lost a twin.Have them check you progesterone also as that can threaten the pregnancy if it is in the uterus and can lower your HCG levels. My cousins was 124 then she started spotting and it went down to 24 that day and they checked her progesterone and it was low then the next day it was back up again and the baby did fine and she stayed on the meds. I had a TR also!!! They saw the baby in the uterus at 4.6 weeks!!! they need to know for sure!

I went to my doctors appointment today, and my doc wanted to give me MTX to end my pregnancy. I am at high risk of an ectopic due to TR, but feel that doc is only looking at me as a statistic, doc said she did not want to take the chance of messing up my tube, I wanted to wait till after u/s next week, she said if we wait till then it would be to late, b/c they would be able to see baby in my tube, but doc is not certain baby is in my tube, they are only going by the symptoms and hcg levels, from what I have been reading hcg levels range, and do not always go up as they should. My doc asked me to come back in on Wed. to test levels again, if they donot go up she said we need to end pregnancy to save my tube. I hope this little person grows and sticks!! She also mentioned with her finding two cysts, it could be possible that I was carrying twins, and lost one, the other could be in my uterus, but she did not want to take the chance. I am praying this little person is as stubborn as my others and does his/her thing when he/she is good and ready, at least by Wed!

Good luck at your dr appt, keep us posted.
