High BBT for over 19 days

Hey,
I've been charting my BBT for three months now, TTC for about two, very lazily. I discovered that my luteal phase was around 14 days, even before I started charting regularly.
This month, the strangest thing happened- my BBT stayed elevated (not in a triphasic chart, but in a high, consistent temperature), my period is 5 days late, but all preg tests (including a blood test) posted NEG.
I went and got an ultrasound, thinking that it may be a cyst or something, but it came back clear. My uterus lining was just a tad thick- 9 mm. My progesterone levels were high, a bit over the normal levels of the luteal phase.

I feel great- no strange symptoms, other than a bit of breast fullness, a slight tiredness and an appetite for sweets- no more than I usually get before my period...
I know exactly when I ovulated because of the increase in temperature, cervical mucus, cervix position etc. And it's been a while...

What can it be? What else can cause high progesterone levels? I had no bleeding or stomach cramps...
I feel good, so I'm not worried (had an ovarian cyst in the past, it was painful and made me weak...).

How long should I wait before going to see my Dr again?

This isn't fun...

Thanks in advance,
Noa

Thanks, you're probably right.
I have had high prolactin levels in the past, but have been taking pills that suppress secretion, and for a long time it's been completely normal. I guess that's why I was shocked to see two small stains on my shirt this morning... in my case though (not that it means anything), even the slight increase of prolactin levels can cause milk discharge, even when there are no other prolactin symptoms (unovulation, which clearly wasn't the case this month...).

I agree that it can be caused from some hormonal imbalance. though as you said, I don't quite understand how the luteal phase can last this long...

Thanks for replying. For now I'm keeping this situation private, only my husband is involved, and he's quite sick of listening to all my doubts and questions... he just wants to be updated when the answers arrive! Perhaps he's right, and until something changes there's not really much I can do...
Still, when it comes to these matters, I know most women can identify with this endless obsession :-) So  these conversations and mutual speculations are a great source of support for me, and to many other women I'm sure.

I wish you a healthy, fertile evening.
All the best.

Nipple discharge isnt normally somthing that happens until later in pregnancy,it sounds like you may have hormone imbalance.so yes i agree a doctors visit is in order.even if it was late implanation, our luteal phase is only ever 16 days tops.impossible to be longer.thickning of linning is good.this will help substain a pregnancy, and indeed maybe an early pregnancy,I wish you the best of luck.

Hi, thanks!
I did get a vaginal US, and it showed nothing, but a slightly thickened endometrium.
And... I did get a qualitative blood test (twice, day after day), and it showed that the hcg levels are under 2, which means zero... I know that those tests are quite accurate.

Today I woke up and the temperature rose even higher! And, to my dismay, I had a bit of milk discharge from my nipples... other than that I feel oddly wonderful, am in a great mood. No increased appetite, fatigue, or frequent voyages to the toilet... don't feel like I'm pregnant, even though I was never pregnant, so who knows what it feels like...

I thank you for your advice, both of you. I will definitely wait a few more days, and let my body take care of it self- either way... if no menses by next week, another visit to the Dr it shall be.

Perhaps it was late implantation. although I doubt it because I'm 20 days POD already, so some beta should have been showing by now...

We'll see.
Health is the most important thing, I guess.

Thanks for everything.

Its very possible you are.if you did in fact ovulate then a period would have arrived within 16 days,no matter what.so with a thickning of linning, its possible its still to early.or in fact your period is on the way.wait few more days and test again.if nothing speak with your doctor again.

sounds like a chemical pregnancy. That is where you can test + and then a few days later test neg or ahve totally missed it all together. Did you have a transvaginal us?? That is the only kind that would show something and they need to also test the quantataive which gives a number instead of a yes or no! Never let them give you a qualitive because they ar no differnt then taking a urine test! Really my RE will never give one and says the are a waste of time. You need to make sure you go back to zero. All those signs and high temp indicate pregnancy so you might still have some tissue left in there. My sister had one and it took 2 months to go abck to zero!
