HCG levels after D&C

Hi.  I just had a D&C on Friday July 9th.  I had a blighted ovum that was discovered when I was 7 weeks 2 days but I waited and tried prometrium until 9 weeks whereas we decided to go ahead with the surgery when no progress was seen.  I don't have a followup with the doctor until July 26th and really want to start trying again for a baby (we've already had one previous m/c in November 2009).  My doctor isn't doing followup hcg blood draws because he says he rarely has a problem with left over tissue and we would know if there was left over tissue because of persistant bleeding.   I really wish that he would do draws so that I would know when my levels are officially low enough to allow my pituitary glad to spark ovulation again.  I am still spotting lightly (it's only been 1 week since surgery) and I did take a hpt yesterday with a faint positive and one today that came back negative.  I am just wondering if this could really be true that all of my hcg could already be out of my system (it was 4000 at the time of the d and c).  I just want to know if anyone else had blood draws and came back with a less than 5 only 1 week past d and c.  I hope so!  I really want to start ttc again asap and so I am hoping to ovulate soon!!!  Everything I've read though says it could take 4-6 weeks for the hcg leves to come down so it just seems really soon to me.  Anyways...let me know any thoughts or previous experiences with hcg levels following d and c.
Thanks!!!!

hii, hcg takes an average of 2 weeks to leave the body. 4 weeks being the max...
i had a termination 10 weeks ago today though and i STILL have a small amount of hcg in my system and were still unsure why.
try asking your doctor again to take a blood sample and see. if tests are coming up negative though you should be ok :) x

Lots of peoples levels go back down to 0 within the same week and some it can take a couple weeks. If you are showing negative on a pregnancy test than that is a good sign your levels are almost at 0 if they aren't already. When I had a miscarriage I ended up getting pregnant again within 6 weeks so I'll keep my fingers crossed for you! I wish you lots and LOTS of sticky baby dust!
