Prayers needed....

I found out today that my FIL has been diagnosed with prostate cancer. They did a biopsy 11 days ago, and it came out positive. The doc said that they caught it really early, so his chances for recovery are very good. He will go in and have surgery done Next month. Im sure he will do just fine as he is a very athletic and healthy man. Hubby is taking it better than I thought, either that or he is acting like he is okay. This is a very hard time in my life, as my husbands family is the only family I have. Please keep him in your prayers.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and yours. My father too had prostate cancer. He had it removed in 1999. He lived to be 71 and just passed in Nov 2005. I'd like to say NOT from cancer, but he was also a an ex-smoker (quit in 1996) and worked around harmful chemicals that lead to lung cancer. He was free of cancer for three years before the lung cancer reared its ugly head.

God bless your family...

My FIL has opted for a full removal of the prostate gland. He seems okay when I spoke to him tonight, but it still has me worried. Thank you all for your incouraging words, and all your prayers. Im hoping for the best, he needs to be around to hold his twin grandchildren. Once again, thank you very much.

It's great they caught it early! I hate cancer with a passion! Do they know what they plan on doing now (surgery, radiation, chemo, meds?)? I think your FIL will do just fine, as you stated. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers!

Did you know that if they lived long enough that EVERY man would get prostate cancer? I watched a show on it once. My dad and brother are Radiation Therapists and treat men with prostate cancer everyday. My brother once told me that if I called him one day and told him that our dad had prostate cancer, that he would say "oh, OK...they'll treat it."

My dad had a brain tumor and two brain surgeries 10 days before I had my son. It's a stressful situation! Stay positive :) Everything will work out fine and your FIL will get better!

You and your family are in my prayers.  The outcome when caught early is usually very very good.  My co-workers husband had it, and is now completely cancer free and living the good life. :-D
