PreNatal Vitamins..Okay to take if not pregnant?

Hey Girls! I didn't know where else to post this topic and I figured since your all are dealing with pregnancy in some form it would be okay to ask here. Me and my roommate were wondering if it is safe to take PreNatal Vitamins when not pregnant...I mean obviously we know if pregnant women take them then they probably dont harm your body but will they make us gain weight or anything? The reason we want to take them is because we heard they make your hair grow faster and shinier..Is this even true?!! I would love any answers or suggestions?!! Thank You!!

And another thing I want to mention...make sure and take them AFTER you have eaten, otherwise they will make you sick to your stomache.  I learned that the hard way!! :o)

I've been taking them for over a year now in hopes of getting pregnant...I was pregnant but lost the pregnancy in Dec., and have continued to take them...My hair grows pretty fast anyway, so I'm sure about that, but they definately make my fingernails grow faster and they are more strong than they used to be.

I think the part of hair growing faster or not with the prenatals is still dependant on the person. I know some womens hair thins when pregnant, no matter what, some hair gets curlier like mine did, and some straightens out. It can change the texture and thickness of your hair with or without prenatals, and also can stay that way permanantly. Taking prenatal vitamins is a great source of the vitamins and minerals a woman needs on a daily basis. No, they wont hurt you and they shouldnt make you gain weight, but I rememember one woman saying on here that her prenatals made her hungry. So I dont know for sure.

lol from what other women tell me yes. That it grows out thicker and faster, but since I never really took them long enough I cant say it for myself but I can say that it was true for them.

Yes...I'm pregnant and dont even take them I hate them, lol, but yes I know of many many women and co-workers that take prenatals exactly for that reason. And they've told me that their hair does come out shinier and thicker, but since I havent been taking them my hair still seems the same, actually thinner.
