ITA speak to your doctor about another, class C option and also have your doctor supervise your weaning from Celexa.
Thank you so much. I am taking Celexa 20 mgs and I know I cannot stop suddenly, it has put me in the hospital before.
SSRI's can be taken while pregnant when the benefit outweighs the risks. It is best, if possible, to avoid them during the 1st trimester though. Celexa, prozac, and Zoloft are all good, Class C medication, options. I would highly recommend you discuss this with your OBGYN before attempting to get pregnant so the best course of action can be taken.
And no - you must NEVER quit antidepressants suddenly as very serious withdrawal phenomena can occur. A slow tapering regime is needed and is dependent on what dosage of medication you are on and how long you have been on it for, and what type of withdrawal effects you might experience.
