QUESTION ABOUT ZOFRAN.

I HAVE A QUESTION. THE DR IN THE ER TOLD ME TO REST THE PILL UNDER MY TONGUE. BUT IF GIVES OFF A HORRIBLE TASTE SO I END UP SWALLOWING IT. IS THAT WRONG, OR DOES IT NOT MATTER AS LONG AS I'M GETTING IT?

I think I got lucky, mine were never grape. (tasted like cherry to me) Still awful to use when you feel so sick though.

If you have just a bottle of 30, it doesn't sound like they're the ODT. The ones you have are fine to swallow whole, but you risk vomiting them back up. If you can dissolve it in your mouth, try to do that.

errr sorry you can also do what I did my first pregnancy...ask for some of both types, so if you're feeling nauseous but don't need relief immediately you can swallow the pill kind, but if you need relief FAST (like you're running out the door for an appointment) you can keep the dissolving kind around.

I think the easiest way to know is that the dissolving kind taste like the most god-awful grape flavoring EVER, while the other kind would taste like...um...sour, and gross.

You know it's funny that you say this...every time I'm in the hospital they give me the dissolving kind and I ALWAYS remark "well if i wasn't gonna throw up before, I sure am now" while gagging on the flavor. and they always laugh and shrug it off...

but the truth is, if you can grit your teeth and get through the 30-60 seconds of the dissolving kind, you'll get relief SO much quicker.

What I usually do is dissolve it without swallowing...you'll get a little flavor, but if you can concentrate on something else it's better...and when it gets down to the little bit at the end, swallow quickly a few times and swish with some water.

but the less you can swallow while it dissolves the more tolerable it will be and the faster relief you will get....the other stuff can take 45 minutes to work sometimes.

Well it's easy to tell. Do they come in individual blister packs, or just a bottle? The ODT are packaged separately because they start to break up as soon as you open it.

HE DIDN'T REALLY SAY. HE JUST SAID SET IT UNDER MY TONGUE, SO I'M ASSUMING THEIR THE DISSOLVING ONES. BUT THE LONGER I LET IT SIT THERE TO DISSOLVE, THE MORE NAUSEOUS I GET. I CAN'T WIN FOR LOSE.

If you have the orally dissolving pills then yes, you need to let it sit there. If its just the pill itself, it's fine to swallow whole. He could say to let the pill dissolve because it won't make you vomit, whereas swallowing it can make you sick and then you won't be able to take anything else for a few hours.
