Question for the mommies that have kids...

So I just gave birth to my son last Friday (so inlove) but when I went to the doctors they said he's loosing weight.. They told me he should be taking AT LEAST 3 ounces PER feeding, if not more. Well my little man likes an ounce to a ounce and a half. I've upped it to 2 ounces every 2 hours. It takes him anywhere from an hour to two hours to have him take the full two ounces. Tomorrow I go back and if he doesn't gain any weight I have to go to the hospital to see exactly what's going on - they said he's completely healthy and they don't know what it could be -

Does anyone have any advice? I don't want to see my love go to the hospital and I want him to gain more weight! Please any ideas or if anyone's been threw this, please let me know. I'm really scared for him =(

Typically babies do lose weight before leaving the hospital.  Another words, when leaving the hospital, they are typically a bit lighter than at birth.  But normally, that quickly comes back.  I am not a doctor but wish they would give him a bit more time to gain before sending him to the hospital.  Hopefully, he will have gained something by tomorrow though.  They tend to gain weight fairly quickly in the beginning.

All babies if I'm not mistaken lose before they gain. And when my baby girl was a week old she only ate 2oz, sometimes not even that every 3-4hr. I believe if he's healthy and seems happy then I wouldn't worry. I agree get a second opinion

2oz every two hrs should be enough for him to gain weight. Maybe its the formula? They lose a few oz the first week or two. They did that with my son. He was in the nicu from birth because he had low blood sugar but then his blood sugar was fine but he wasnt gaining weight so they kept wanting to keep him and do absolutely nothing for him. Finally i had my ped dr release him to his care. I was fed up. Try getting a second opinion

My son lost weight too. I just had to bring him in once a week for about 3 weeks just so they could make sure he was in fact gaining a little weight. My son is still on the small side but his doctor says he is heathly. (He is 4 months and only weighs a little over 12 lbs) Hopefully everything is OK with your little one!

I wish I could give you advice momma! Both of my babies drank 2oz every 2 hrs my son was always long and skinny and slowly gained weight bc he constantly spit up. My daughter is 3 wks and just recently started drinking about 3-4oz every 2 hrs but she is a chunker.
