RH Factor question!

My best friend who just had a baby was talking about the RH factor.  Well my fiance is b+ and I don't know my blood type but if I am - and miscarried at 12 weeks back in 2007 do I need the shot before I get pregnant again?  Or am I okay since I didn't make it far enough along?

I just looked a little more and read that you should have the RH shot by 72 hours after you miscarry at the latest.  So I am hoping that my doctor saw that I was + and that I'm okay... this really stinks because I don't know my blood type.

I did see a doctor the whole time and maybe because I wasn't - blood then he didn't worry about it.  My friend said since she was - and her husband is + they gave her the shot at like 28 weeks and then if her baby was + then she would have had to have it again.  So then maybe I am fine and I'm positive.  I will ask the doctor for my blood type next time I go in and maybe I'm positive and that's why he didn't give me the shot.  I am just worried and don't want to worry about another miscarriage in the future.

It would have been better for you to have the shot before you had your miscarrage.  Did you see a Dr. when you miscarried?  If you are RH neg, there isn't anything you can do about it now.  Getting the shot right now wouldn't do any good.  Either you got the antibodies or you didn't.  What they will do is when you get pregnant again they will test your blood and you'll get the shot when your 28 weeks...of if sadly you have another miscarrage or are bleeding during your pregnancy they would give you a small shot early.

If you went to the Dr. for your pregnancy and had any blood drawn at all they would check your blood type, and they wouldn't really tell you anything unless you were RH neg.  If your pos they wouldn't really say anything.
