6 weeks and 5 days from the start of the last period, did an ultrasond today!!

Hey guys,
I am writing this to get educated about my sitiation. I have been spotting for a week or so now. Sometimes it is a mucus kind of thing and some times I see a red discharge. But this does not happen all the time. only very few times.

My PCP asked me to take a ultrasound to see what is going on. I am also taking MACROBID (Pregnancy safe antibiotic) for a diagonsed urinary infection.

Today I had an ultrasound taken and I told the technician that I am 7 weeks pregnant thinking that my count starts from the last mensural date. After the ultrasound was taken the technician told me that she could not see anything but a stationed SAC. Based on my dates she told me that she should be seeing more than a stationed SAC.

Now after researching many forums around here I am not sure if I am 7 weeks pregnant. I normally get my periods every 28-29 days.

Is the number of weeks of pregnancy calculated from the date of ovulation or from the last mensural date? If it is from the date of ovulation, I guess it is 26th of Dec 2010. Then I am little more than 5 weeks pregnant. If so then getting to see just a empty SAC in the uterus is normal? Also the blood test results that came back yesterday has the right HCG counts and was right where it should be.

I am fearing if this would be a MOLAR PREGNANCY. But one thing is I don't have any of the symptoms of a MOLAR PREGNANCY after reading many articles.

Everthing around the uterus looks alright and the technician also told me that she could see very very little blood spottings around my vagina.

Any inputs from you guys t help me understand my situation is greatly appreciated. I have a OB/GYN appointment (1st appointment) on the 1st of February 2011. My PCP told me that she will forward all the test results and the Photographs from the ultrasound to the OB/GYN's office when she receives them.

Please, Please help me understand as my Husband & I are very worried about the situation and this is also our first baby.

Thank you very much in advance

They count it from the first day of your last period or 2 weeks before ovulation. I wouldn't worry about them not seeing much at 7 weeks. Could just be they used poor equipment. Also if it was an abnormal pregnancy I'd think its more likely the beginning of a miscarriage than a molar pregnancy. But like I said before it could just be too early. Hopefully your next appointment will give you more insight.
