Rh negative ...

Just found out I'm ab-, my doctor says I have to get a shot at 20 weeks & at delivery, so that if I was to get pregnant again my body wouldn't fight off the baby. I'm only 10 weeks now, and really nervous, I've heard of this before but don't really know how common it is.

Honestly it's nothing to worry about. Only about 15% of people are rh- and if you have any abdominal trauma or bleeding.during your pregnancy you will.need additional shots, just in case any of the baby's blood mixes with yours. I had some slight spotting at 27w and had to get a shot because of.it
I then had my normal.shot at 29w. It stings, and my leg ached for.a.good few hours afterwards, but it's nothing to worry about. I will also need another shot after the birth.
Btw, congrats on the super rare blood type. I'm also ab- and less than 1% of the population have that blood type

The shot isn't too bad. It's given like right above your butt. It feels like a pinch for a little while because it's a slow shot so the needle stays in for a little while.  Just don't look at the needle when the nurse brings it out. That's what made it scary for me.

don't feel bad I was informed yesterday at my doctor's appt that I have to get the shot because im O-, but he also told me that at birth theyll check the baby's blood type and they only give u another if the baby has a positive blood type. But I'm nervous about this shot as well but i have to get it in 2 weeks
