Thanks rockrose. I have been thinking there has to be a way to make it without foodstamps. I just didnt know who to ask.
My neighbor gave us some beans and onions and a while ham. So I am making pinto beans soup
simply, I'm sorry you're in this situation.
You, too, can go to food pantries in your community and they often don't require any kind of documentation.
Then, what you don't get there you buy.
Splitting up the money between the two of you is the wrong way to go - and you won't be able to maintain health very long on pasta and ramen.
Pool your food, and spend the $20 together, and it will go MUCH farther. For $20, you can get a large bag of dried beans, a large bag of raw greens, a couple onions, a gallon of milk (that you can dilute half with water to drink), several fresh chilis to chop, a sack of flour tortillas, a box of the cheapest chocolate cake mix, a bag of apples and a bag of oranges, and an 18 pack of eggs. Then really work toward buying the staples when you can - flour, sugar, oil, baking soda and powder, etc.
People who had very little money in the past generations really knew how to stretch it and still live good healthy lives. We've lost that ability and no one is teaching this generation how to make healthy nutritious meals on a shoestring budget.
Best wishes.
I am in the same situation. Tried to obtain food stamps yesterday but got denied because bf made 100 more than limit :( If my boyfriends family (mom and sister) doesnt stop mooching off him we will always suffer for it :( we have a 20 dollar food budget...so I spend ten. He spends ten. He is going to get ramens and water. I am going to buy pasta I guess :/
Incoming - check your private message. You can get food this morning.
Thanks! I'll message you in a little while. ;D
Google doesn't recognize that town - is that a typo?
Your profile doesn't say what town you live in, or I'd do this for you.
I agree with the others, call any large church in your area, or look up food pantry in your town on google, and give them a call. If you have any paperwork showing that you have food stamps that will come on the 18th, and you appear pregnant, you won't have any trouble getting some basic staple foods.
This is a bigger problem than that, though. If you literally have zero money (like, not enough for a loaf of bread and a can of beans) then you need to do some more long -term problem solving. Can food stamps offer you a social worker's advice?
I was gonna suggest a food bank too. You qualify for wic if you get food stamps most likely but (idk about your state) that won't last til the 18th. They give me milk cereal bread eggs cheese juice, fruits and vegetables. It helps but not much to feed a family with. Call around for some food banks they should be able to give you some food for free
Food pantry. Yes wic is good as well but for things not offered go to a food pantry. It's why they are there
I'm pretty sure you qualify for WIC since you get food stamps honey. WIC helps so much with our family, and after you have the baby they will give you formula or whatever if you're not breastfeeding. And also places like the Salvation Army and churches can help you. Good luck!
You qualify for wic! Try going to a church and tell them yout situation.
