Should I switch docs at 38 weeks?

I'm 38 weeks today and have been having problem after problem with my midwife. I already paid $1280 for my deposit and Co insurance which I know I'll never see again if I switch. The problem is they are so unreliable and reschedule on me every week because they book me for appointments that don't exist and then don't show up when it's time for my appointment. For example,  today I waited 30 min outside because I was told to come at noon to drop off my urine collection and no one showed up! They blow me off too when I have concerns also. I got diagnosed with HG after they refused to help me saying I wasn't feeling as bad as I said I was even tho I hadn't had food in 10 weeks and would throw up water! I found a doc that would take me being so late but I had my heart set on delivering at the birth Center because I don't want the stress of a hospital but I also want decent care. What would you do?

You are so right! The hospital is stressful to me but I didn't think about how stressful it would be to deliver at the birth center with these midwives!

I would complain to the governing board for this group as well as the better business bureau. They may be intentionally giving poor service to get the money but not the care. You mentioned concern about the stress of the hospital, but it sounds like the birthing center staff may be more stress than they are worth. It is unfortunate you have had the experience you have had so far. I would switch personally just for the incompetance already demonstrated. I would discuss what options you have and consider legal action with the governing board. Keep calm, relax, and ask for help if you need it.

I would switch ASAP. What if you go into labor, they arent reliable so who's to say they won't show up too late. One thing I've learned from being pregnant is sometimes your plans change when we least expect it. No need to go into labor worrying about how unreliable they are when you can switch and get the proper attention needed.

That's what I was thinking. I'm putting my son at risk by receiving terrible care.  It will be hard to switch because I won't really know the doc delivering my baby but the midwives have sent me to the hospital before because they couldn't take my blood pressure correctly so there's nothing stopping them from sending me again during labor and I would end up delivering at the hospital anyways and have an extra bill to pay.

I would switch. My ob that I had when I had my son was awful!  I wish I would of switched. I had an awful experience delivering with that dumb doctor. He was cocky and acted like pushing a baby out of my hoo ha was no big deal. I would get blown off at appointments too. Awful. Go with someone you are comfortable with. Good luck :)
