crib bumpers

How many of you are using them? I know they have been linked to suffocation. What are your thoughts?

I don't see the reason to spend the extra money. I won't be putting one in my daughters crib :)

I'll be using them also.. my nieces and nephews used them with no problems. I also have a video baby monitor so I can keep an eye on her all times unless I'm sleeping. (:

I used bumpers with my son and he just got out of his crib like 4 months ago into a toddler bed and he's perfectly fine never had a problem with the bumpers :) I will also be using them in my daughter's crib..baby sleeps right next to my bed in the crib until about one anyways so I'm always right there and I too am an extremely light sleeper!

I used them. I sleep super easy and wake up at the slightest noise and I can literally wake up from not hearing my baby breathe in her regular pattern. But I mean if baby turns over they can suffocate from the mattress so if you over think everything it's all unsafe. We can't keep our babies in bubbles

I agree with you @libbyz. Ive heard horror stories of babies breaking the legs BC there aren't bumpers. And suffocation if you have them. I guess there is pros and cons to everything.

I never really understood why they said u shouldn't use them. I no obviously crib death. But now I understand my daughter is now 4 months and she is so wiggly she will be in the complete opposite position that I put her in when I laid her down. Like facing the opposite direction and on her belly and everything
Also I have found her with feet hanging out of the crib in between the wood slats. So I can definitely see the benefits of them

I too got the mesh bumpers...but I know I am a light sleeper and will be checking on him. I feel like SO many generations went with bumpers and we are still here : ) We also share a room so every little thing will wake me. Hell, I do that now with my dogs : )

I didn't use them when my daughter was a new born. When she turned about 6 months and learned to move things from her face I put them in. Which is actually how your supposed to do it. I'd rather have a baby with a bump on her head then ababy tthat suffocated because I didn't listen to saftey warnings....

I used one for my son but he was always a tummy sleeper so he never moved a ton in his sleep. Plus he was always in our room until he turned 1. Maybe see how much your baby moves and if he or she is all over the place when they sleep than decide if you feel comfortable using one or not :)

Thanks girls. They do make the crib look better. But don't want to put my babies life in danger. I just have read that bumpers shouldn't be used, but I guess its up to each individual.
