Metformin should be increased SLOWLY because of everything you just described. When I was on it I would slowly increase my dosage. Started off at like 250 mg, then 500 mg, then 750 mg, etc., etc. up until I was at like 2000 mg.
Metformin causes diarrhea and intestinal upset. Take it before bed to reduce the symptoms during the day. I would maybe take HALF (750 mg) and slowly increase as your body gets used to that amount.
I know what you mean about the Metformin! I have PCOS and I feel like crap WITHOUT it. I can't take it because I'm breastfeeding. It helped me to lose weight and eventually ovulate and ultimately get pregnant with my baby girl. Good luck!
