As you belly gets bigger you should avoid sleeping on your back unless you're pop up a little, since it can slow down or even cut off the blood flow to you and the baby. But that's way later when your baby bump got pretty big and it usually give warning sign like dizziness. As for sleep on you belly, it's fine as long as you are comfortable.

I'm confused why a doctor would say belly is bad.  There are no major arteries or veins running in front of your uterus.  They're all behind.

I have been sleeping on my stomach from day one of my pregnancy and I am 21wks. My doctor told me it was totally fine to sleep on my stomach the entire pregnancy. Only position he doesn't recommend me sleeping on my back because it cuts the blood flow to the baby! He also told me that when I get farther along if the baby doesn't like me sleeping on my stomach he will kick me really hard to move! Its your preference and how you can comfortably sleep!

It's really uncomfortable for me.! I think its from all the bloating! I'm just 6 weeks. But I was told by my doctor when I was pregnant with my son not to lay on my stomach, bad for blood flow.

no just as long as it dosent hurt and your comfy your fine. I'm 13w4d and I still sleep on my belly from time to time. but I found sleeping on your left side with a pillow between your legs is best for me. but every pregnancy is different

Sleeping on your BACK is bad for bloodflow.  Sleeping on your belly is ok as long as it's comfortable :-)  and you can actually sleep on your back too as long as you're slightly elevated to keep your uterus from putting too much pressure on your arteries.  But that'll only be a problem when you get into your mid-second trimester on.
SO! Back =iffy, belly= your body will tell ya when it doesn't like it, left side = supposedly the "best" position, right side = ok, lol it's like the no big deal side lol

Congrats on the pregnancy!
