postion of placenta

My friend is 15 weeks pregnant and when she was 10 weeks along they couldn't hear the heartbeat of her baby and so they did a scan at 15 weeks and noticed that the reason why they coudn't hear the heartbeat was because her placenta is postioned in front and not behind like it normally is. Is this going to be an issue for her later on in her pregnancy or when she delivers? I know it's not good when the placenta is over the cervix I was just wondering about when it's postioned in front like over the belly.

Oh good I'm glad to hear that! Thank you for all your help! I'll let her know.

My placenta is also in the front and my doctor was not concerned with this at all.  Really, it just means that kicks from the baby may be "muffled" by the placenta and, like your friend, the heartbeat may be tricky to find 'cause the placenta's in the way!

I have an anterior platenta also.  Although I haven't delivered yet, my doctor assured me that I will not have any problems.
