Heart beat Myth

So far I am going to be 14 wks tomorrow. the babys heart beat has stayed in the 160's, so Im wondering if this myth about if the heart beats above 140 then its a girl or under 140 its a boy. Has anyone had a boy with high heart beat?

Both of mine were about 150's if I average it out, and I have one boy and one girl. I'm the exact opposite of connorethansmom, LOL....first time I was SURE I was having a boy...nope, girl. Second time I swore it would be another girl, nope boy. So I figure next time whatever I think I'm having, it'll be the opposite :).

Sammie181716 - what do you THINK you are having?  With all three I had this inner feeling of what each of them were.  My husband thought I was nuts, until the ultrasound.  With this last one, he really wanted a boy, but had himself convinced it was a girl.  I kept telling him, don't worry it's a boy.  Sure enough, it's a boy!

Myth 100%. Heartbeats fluctuate depending on what the baby is doing. If it is sleeping or resting its lower or bouncing around and punching its higher. It also tends to be higher in the beginning of pregnancy and lower at the end. Whenever my daughter is active her heartbeat is above 140 but when she is resting its around 120-140. For instance my appointment last week she was going crazy and it was at 154 and today she was sleeping and it was 129. Also at 10 weeks it was like 165-170 and now at 37 weeks it rarely goes above 150.

Well until this one, I would have agreed with it.

First was a boy HB 130-140
Second a girl HB 170s
Third a boy HB 170s

In my experience, it is simply a myth that the heartbeat indicates if it a boy or girl. My daughters was fairly low and my sons was a little higher. This third baby is right around 154 bpm, we will find out in 8 weeks when he or she gets here.

Every time I've gone to the dr and heard the heartbeat it's been in the 150's or 160's and we found out a few weeks ago that's it's a boy. So I don't think so

My baby had a very consistent 165 heartbeat in utero, and he's a boy.

I have 3 kids, and my heart beat's were right on target. Girls have tendencies to have higher heartbeat's than girls... That's what my OB told me... But we were right on target...
