How often does your newborn eats during night.

Hello ladies. My daughter is 8 days old today and I am wondering about her eating schedule. SHe wakes up every 2,5 hours during the day to eat. SHe usually wakes up by herself, but sometimes she will go 3 hrs between feeds.
When night time comes she wants to eat all the time for about two hours. And she falls a sleep around 2 am and will sleep 4-5 hours, sometimes 6 hours. When I try to wake her to feed, she does not want to wake up. Last night she had some gas and I fed her around 2am, but she did not sleep until 3:30 and I woke her up at 7am. She has this schedule from the day she was born. Nurse said I need to wake her up every 2-3 hrs to feed, but dont go any longer than 4 hrs. My question is if baby is eating enough, gaining wait and has lots of wet, dirty diapers, do I still need to wake her up to feed?

Thank you

You can wake her during the day to eat, yes. But in the middle of the night you do not need to wake her if she is not underweight. This will help her get her days and nights figured out and will help her to learn to sleep through the night eventually.

I wouldn't let things go much more than 4 hours, since at 8 days old, her stomach can't hold more than two or at most three hours' worth of food.

If she has proper weight gain, output and isn't fussy after eating, I wouldn't bother. I used to wake my daughter up to feed her, but that was only because if she went too long she got too frantic and couldn't latch on and nurse. I wouldn't bother waking her. She'll get herself up when she's hungry.
