The home stretch...

Well ladies, it's finally here...I'm in the home stretch.  I hit 37 weeks today so I'm officially Full Term!!!  It seems like just yesterday I was complaining that it would never get here lol.  AFter all the times I've told everyone else to "be patient, it'll happen before you know it"  I'm now getting extremely anxious.  It's all kind of bittersweet tho, I plan on this being my last pregnancy so on one hand I want it to last and to enjoy it and on the other hand I just want to hurry up and meet my little guy.  So far no progress towards labor but I've been having more contractions where I can feel the pressure in my cervix and more pressure down there when I'm walking.  We'll see at my appt. thursday if anything has changed!!  So, ladies, wish me luck and I'll post just as soon as I can when I do have him.

Thanks for the info... I didn't think it was "normally" done until later in the pregnancy, but after reading some of the posts indicating they had it done earlier, it just had me rather curious.

Typically doctors dont' start checking you until 36 weeks. If you have contractions or pressure, etc they may check you early....with multiples they may check you earlier too.  This is my 5th full term pregnancy and I've seen a different doctor with each one...All of them waited until 36 weeks to regularly check my cervix.  The only other times I was checked was if I complained of intense braxton hicks contractions earlier on.

So is it pretty typical that the doctor will check your cervix as early as 34 weeks like some of you ladies indicated?  I'm just curious because I'm at 33 1/2 weeks now and my next follow-up appointment is on the 29th (so I'll be a little over 35 weeks) but they didn't mention anything to me about checking my cervix at that appointment.  I suppose I should probably call and ask them.  =)

Good luck to all you ladies who are almost there!

I plan on it.. I've got the video camera charged and in the van already along with the tripod so it can just be set up and run while my hubby takes still photos :) I didn't record or get still photos of the actual births of my other kids...so I definately want to with this one.

As for taking it easy...I wish...I'm still working and will til I go into labor and have 3 kids ...I haven't known how to relax in oh about 12 years lol!!!!

We've all been with eachother from start to finish for most of our pregnancies!  I'm so proud of all of us!  Make sure you're recording your last weeks and def make sure you get the birth on tape since this is the last baby.  You'll be like me I watch mine every week!  Congrats and just take these last few days as easy as possible.

well if i'm lucky this one will come earlier rather than later...my last one came 10 days before my due date....4 days after my doc stripped my membranes.  I'm hoping I've made some progress so I can ask my doc to do that again.  The one before that came 3 days before her due date....so we'll see :)  I'll definately post pics and stuff as soon as I can when it DOES happen!!

for some unfortunate women full term is anywhere betwen 37 and 42 weeks.  I knew a lady who had 3 children and each one came at 42 weeks and each time the doc wanted to induce and she said no her babies just needed a bit more time.  I hope that doesn't happen as i can't imagine that final few weeks dragging on for an extra 2.  But by the sounds of things as you are all 1cm dialated or feeling pressure ect you will not have that problem.  I am haivng a c-section at 38.4 days as i had complications last time so i do get to shave off a few days which is always nice.  I have a bit to go yet as i am only 20.3 days.  It seems like the first 12 weeks went really slow then before i knew it i was 20 weeks and now i feel like this next 10 weeks will go really slowly before i hit the countdown 30 week mark.  Anyway good luck to al those who are getting close and i wish you and your baby all the best.

Congrats!! I didn't know 37w was technically considered full term. Maybe if my son measures ahead at the next U/S they'll change my due date!

i'm 31w3d... so technically 5w4d left if I follow the 37w rule... :)

Awww....I know how you feel about the bittersweet thing.  I think I responded to another post of yours about it.  I will PM you later.  I have something I have been meaning to talk to you about.  It's kind of a long story so I have to wait until I have a little bit of time to type.

I'm getting ready to start dinner, but I will be checking the computer while the food is cooking.  Take care girl......ALMOST HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I also wanted to thank you for all of the support you have given me through the months.  Sometimes you just need someone on your side ya know???  Sometimes it just feels like the whole world is against you......Anyway, I will PM you later.

Good luck and good job on getting o be full term.  I am 34 weeks and in the hospital because I am already dialated to a 3 and thinned out.  My baby is also breeched so they are fearful of my water breaking elsewhere but the hospital...looks like I will be here until my baby girl is born.  Enjoy your last part of pregnancy and everything will be wonderful!
