Really stupid question. Pregnancy and miscarriage?

I have a very stupid question...  So I had a like 10 HCG count 3 weeks ago or so, I have not had any bleeding whatsoever.  My husband and I have not used any protection because we figured I would have to miscarry before I could get pregnant again...  (We want another baby, but we wanted to wait a month or two before trying again, give my body time to heal you know).  I have not had a D&C, I had a blighted ovum which was diagnosed at 6 weeks, but the ultrasound showed it was still at 4 weeks, and it never progressed from there.  Someone told me, that it is possible to have a miscarriage without bleeding specially in the beginning because your body can reabsorb the baby-is that true?  And if so, could I get pregnant before having a period because I know that to have a period you have to ovulate, and if an egg is fertilized, you are pregnant?  My doctor did not mention taking any birth control precautions…

Hey Joy

I had 6 HcG counts done in the course of a month.  It went from in the 1200's to 10...  But after that appointment I have had nothing, not even spotting.  When I was bleeding in early june, some jelly thing came out with long strings of stuff but thats it.  After that, I had 3 other ultrasounds which verified that there was an egg in there collapsing on itself.  I will definately call my doctor today and ask about this cause I had no idea that could happen.

I'd ask your doctor about that because I know that in the case of multiples that can happen, to prevent the viable baby from being miscarried along with the dead/nonviable baby. It can take some time to miscarry naturally.

The problem is that your uterine lining will need to slough off and rebuild itself before beginning a new pregnancy.

Or it could be that your pregnancy is fine. Have you gotten another HCG test done? Another sonogram? If your pregnancy is a molar pregnancy then you definitely need that verified.

As for conceiving again, most doctors request you wait 1-3 periods before trying again so give your uterine lining time to rebuild and so that they can date a new pregnancy in the event you do become pregnant again right away. So much stress can occur when one conceives before that first period and no one has any idea if the HCG levels are from the previous pregnancy or from a new pregnancy, sonograms show no baby, etc., etc. So definitely worth waiting at least one cycle.
