I thought the limit was 25 pounds, but my doctor told me 15 pounds in early pregnancy. maybe second trimester 25 pounds is more safe. Honestly, in early pregnancy we were in the middle of moving and i lifted Hella boxes, and still lift things over 15-20 pounds. I say play it safe and you know your body and your limit. And just watch how you pick things up. I carry my laundry basket on my hip, like a child, that way the weight isn't too much.
You can do what you normally do. Unless you are high risk or there is another reason why your doctor doesn't want you to.
Drink more. Not sure how much you're drinking, but in pregnancy make sure you get at least your 64 oz, and more if you can...I constantly have a huge water bottle by me and I take it everywhere. You might try to minimize the gatorade, a little won't hurt you but I think it has sodium in it and getting too much of it is bad during pregnancy. Plus it has sugar and unnatural stuff in it so water is best. Like I said, I wouldn't worry about doing laundry unless you don't feel well. If you start cramping or need to sit down, do it...leave the laundry there and let your hubby get it when he gets home. We're not exactly fragile, but it's important that you listen to your instincts and your body and just not overdo it.
Thanks for all the responses. And to LyakGarcia I would do a load a day but by the time I get home from work, others have their laundry going already and there is a time limit at night, so I have to wait until Saturdays when no one wlse does it. We have 9 apartments in this building and only one machine. So it doesn't leave me many options. My husband would help me but he works 12 hour days on Saturdays. I do get regular exercise. I walk everywhere I go, because my husband has the car all the time, and I still do zumba (ob said was fine). The laundry I carry one basket at a time feels to be 5 to 10 pounds. I thought it wasn't too much, but wasn't sure. I have been getting dehydrated easily though, but drink nothing but water and gatorade. Any other suggestions about THAT?
Tall to your doctor about your limits, let her know exactly what you're doing...that's what I did, and aside from a little modification I can still do my weight training and it doesn't bother me or my baby.
why don't you try doing 1 load a day? the exercise will be good and less to carry, <3
I think 25 lbs too. I'm on a 15 lb. limit but I've had some complications, so if you want to be extra-careful split up your loads and take up less at a time. Just pay attention to your body, if you're not feeling well stop, but you should be fine. :)
Im thinking the limit is 25lbs....but if you have noone to help you(my boyfriend carries all of our laundy now..poor man lol we usually wash 3 loads at a time) it would probably make the load lighter to use one of the baskets with wheels ...but just be careful and be sure to carry the weight on your legs rather than lifting with your back
