Missed period, thick uterus?

My LMP was on 4/23/10. I am usually pretty normal 28-30 days.. I still haven't had my period.. no spotting or anything! I have been cramping on and off the last couple weeks though like I'm about to start. I went to my gyno on Thurs, she gave me a pelvic exam and did a cervical culture. (Got the results back.. all normal.) I have taken about 5 HPT and they all have come back negative. I have a friend who does ultrasounds (however, normally DOESNT do OB) So I had one done on Saturday, and she said she saw the sac, and that I'm pregnant. Today, I went to my gyno and we did a trans vag and she saw nothing! No sac or anything.. but a thick uterine lining. She also saw a cyst on one of my ovaries.. but thats normal for a newly pregnant woman to have...? She said it may be too soon to see anything.. but was so sure that nothing was there this morning. (And basically called the other ultrasound a lie) They drew blood today for my hcg levels.. so I guess I will have more answers later.. but WHAT is going on?? Has anyone else had a similar experience or have any input?? My doctor literally told me she has no explanations for my cramping and missed period.. !!!????

I just wanted to update this and say that I was not pregnant! My Hcg levels came back at a whopping 4 (...5 and under means not pregnant at all) ! So it must have just been stress.. my period came about 2 weeks later.

It is really too early to be able to tell what exactly is going on. I think that the best bet is to wait for the results of the blood test. Usually cysts are normal on the side of your ovary that you didn't ovulate from (it supports the pregnancy until the placenta takes over at 8-10 weeks) but if you are not pregnant it will disappear on its own. Before you see anything on an ultrasound your levels need to be in the 2000's and you should definitely get a positive home pregnancy test by then (but some women don't because the hCg doesn't come through undiluted in their urine) but before you see anything on an u/s you will see the thickening of the uterus (it is what the fertilized embryo implants itself in so the thicker the better). I hope this helps you a little bit! Let us know how your results turn out!
