Baby has swollen kidney's

I'm 22 weeks now and at my 20 weeks ultrasound appointment my doctor told me, aside from my placenta being less than half an inch away from the opening of my cervix as well as an anterior placenta (placenta is also directly behind my belly button rather than at the top where it should be) that baby girl has swollen kidneys. Both of them. She explained to me to keep light fitting clothes on so I didn't put pressure on the placenta and take it easy until my next appointment in June to see if the placenta moved up at all and that she couldn't jump to conclusions about the baby's kidneys because it could be something as simple as she had to pee and didn't want too at that particular time that it would be monitored and checked when they check my placenta again. My doctor was in a bit of a rush, she was called in for an emergency in the OR, I definitely didn't want to keep her waiting with questions so I got what I could and now I'm here to ask if anyone has any idea's what could be causing this problem?

I posted a few days ago about my placenta. Still worried about that but I figured now was the time to ask about the baby's kidneys. I didn't put much thought into it because my doctor didn't but sitting here.. Kidney problems are a bit of a thing in my family. My youngest sister almost died and was hospitalized for 5 months because of a stone getting stuck and causing her kidney to abcess and cause sepsis.. One of my cousins gets stones removed and is on permanent meds to keeps her kidneys from backing up stones.. I started to make myself worry. I know this is a novel! Sorry for writing so much and thanks ahead of time!

Thank you very much! She didn't give me any particular name. Maybe next month when they check her kidney's and placenta they will tell me? I'll do an update when the time comes. I had read about different outcomes to the kidney problems so I had to ask on here. I also read it is more common in boys. Hoping it was just as the doctor said and she was camera shy, didn't want anyone to see her peeing! Thank you again, very much!

My doctor told me that, of course, normal is at the top and she prefers to deliver naturally with the placenta at least at a 4 away from cervix. She did give me a call a few days after the appointment and the rush of the OR ordeal was worn off to tell me that my placenta was less than half an inch and she would still allow me to deliver normally as long as my placenta would move up at least 2 extra inches. I had my son completely natural but early. 35 weeks, 30 minute labor. No meds at all. They gave me the steroid to try to stop it and it didn't work so I was worried that maybe the placenta ordeal is part of the early labor situation I have going on. They're expecting this baby at around 35 weeks too and said if the placenta doesn't move it could be sooner. Did you get to deliver normally? Sorry I'm writing so much! My son is a healthy boy, he has a few problems wit his head, a cyst an angioma and a malformation so I'm hearing "swollen kidneys!" with this baby and I'm like ugh my goodness please be nothing wrong with her!

I told my doctor I don't care about the placenta as long as the baby is okay! And she told me I have to care about my placenta cause if that isn't okay, they baby won't be. Lol I'll be checked June 27th and if it hasn't moved I will be put on bedrest in the hospital.. I do not want that!

At my anatomy scan at 20 weeks , I found out my baby boy had a swollen kidney . They will scheduleyou for another uultrasound , I got them every three to four weeks to check on it . I was more concerned then the doctor was ! So dis a lot of research and found there's different diagnosis for kidneys so I'm not sure if he gave you a specific name for yours . But mine was more common in boys but in girls as well . It can have to do with there swallowing and passing that swallowed fluid so it doesn't enlarge the kidney . So they may check for cleft lip at your next ultrasound . But I want you to know I'm now 35 weeks going on 36 weeks and my boys kidneys now are the size the should be for his amount of weeks . Doctors don't get to worried about it because it normally fixs its self and measures out equally after finding the issue . Its rare to cause any issues . I want you to know there's a great chance it corrects itself , take your vitamins and drink a lot of water . Congrats on your baby girl .

Try not to stress I know its hard. With the placenta and cervix both of mine are anterior. I was told dont worry as long as placenta is not covering the cervix. About the kidneys try not to worry unless the dr says there is a reason. Good luck and I hope your appointment gets here fast.
