6 weeks pregnant and no baby yolk found, hcg is rising but not doubeling in 48 hours, normal?

My last mentrual period was 03/29. I am one day shy of seven weeks. I went for a vaginal u/s and found no baby yolk. I notice I have had vaginal discharge no bleeding. I had a HCG level of 04/30 was 149.8, on 05/11 was 2120, on 05/13 was 2623. Is it normal. My doctor called and said she was nervous because my hcg were not doubleling within 48 hours. I had two healthy pregnancy and did not experience any of the above. I am schedule for another vaginal u/s on Wednesday 05/19/10. I am trying not to stress but am terrified

Usually an etopic pregnancy is ruled out at a certain stage and would have been the first concern as it can be fatal.
It is usually picked up fairly early and pain is experienced by most people much earlier

I had an ultrasound at 8 weeks 5 days, and they did not see a yolk sac.  As it turned out I was earlier than they thought, and the next week, they saw a yolk sac and a fetal pole.  Unfortunately for me though, my baby never had a heartbeat, but it is possible, that you are earlier than you think, and things will grow and start showing up on your next ultrasound.  A lot can change in one week.  The HcG not doubling is a valid concern and a red flag for the docs, but, like the other ladies said, HcG levels can vary from person to person. Best of luck to you!

I don't want to scare you but that sounds at least similar to what happened to me this time last year.  We thought I was pregnant, and my numbers were similar to yours, but then at 8 weeks scan I started bleeding that morning and the u/s showed empty uterus.  I went on thinking I had miscarried for a couple of months but I began having SEVERE pain.  To make an extremely long story short, the baby had been growing in my right ovary which had become the size of a "large softball".  Needless to say I had it removed 9/3/9.  What makes the story interesting is I got pregnant 2 weeks after my surgery.  Actually, I've been pregnant 4 times in 11 months since that one last May 24, 2009! :)  I'm 5.5 weeks along right now with the one I'm hoping will be my baby in January.  At any rate, my point is, be aware of your body; there are slim odds of it being anything wrong but don't discount all possibilities just in case.  I hope everything turns out well for you and it probably will.  I agree with everything the lady before me wrote.  I'm sure you perhaps just aren't quite as far along as you thought, or it could be simply that everyone's hcg numbers are so different and just because that last time it didn't rise as you thought it would...everything will be okay.  Keep us posted!

It could be normal the possibility of it being normal seems higher than the chance of it being abnormal.
It is still an early pregnancy and You could be earlier than You think even. You do not know exactly when You conceived. If You're earlier it could explain the rise in the HCG level and also the unseen Yolk sac.
I will be thinking of You and wishing You well.
No good in stressing it will not help either You no baby, be strong and keep your feet elevated and rest up just until You get a direct answer on wednesday. You should ask to have an internal done at Your ultrasound as well it might be able to pick up more. Best of luck
