Really a vaginal birth is best. I've had an emergency csection & 2 planned csections-although I've had high risk pregnancies my last 2 pregnancies. Drs don't let u select a csection (I've never heard of that). A C is major surgery and recovery is hard. And there are far more risks involved.

I think that they'd have to fudge or lie to even get it through an insurance company and most doctor's have ethics and wont' do that.  Health care costs are such that most try to keep them down.  :>)

You would have to find a doctor willing to do an elective c section. A lot of doctors don't like to do them if they're unnecessary due to the risks involved.

By the way, a scheduled C section just means it is planned but it is planned due to a medical reason.  :>)

I do not think you can. C sections are surgery with risks as well as added expense.  Insurance companies do not allow unnecessary c sections.  doctors answer to insurance companies and therefore, would not recommend it unless medically needed.  good luck

My sister had a scheduled C-Section last year and she was fine! It's all based on your doctor.  She was in nursing school and was unable to take too many days off without being kicked out so she scheduled her C-Section around her spring break. Doctor said they wouldn't do it until she was 37weeks so luckily her spring break fell right as she turned 37weeks. It's possible it's just based on your doctor.

I'm sure I've heard of it...but remember in the long run a c-section is much worse then giving natural birth

Kailalaa - your a little bit out of order for saying 'you shouldn't want a csection'

Each to their own I say. Its major surgery so if someone (take myself for example) feels they'd rather go this way about it then I'm sure they have very good reason.

Where are you BobbieMc?? I'm in the UK.

My first was an emergency csection due to complications at the time. Those complications are unlikely to be an issue with baby #2.

However, I walked in to my appointment clearly adamant that I wanted an elective csection this time. Doctors have to advise against it  but it IS YOUR CHOICE.

If your current OB/GYN/consultant do not want to do the operation, they have to send you to speak to a therapist to discuss worries/anxieties. If after those discussions you still want to opt for the section your doctor has to refer you to a doctor who WILL perform the procedure.

Speak to your midwife and she should back you 100% - I stuck to my guns and I'm being scheduled in for elective csection on Oct 2nd. Good luck x

You shouldn't want a csection, is not good for you or baby and recovery can be difficult whilst attempting to take care of a newborn  the only occasion I've heard of someone being allowed to schedule a csection are moms who've had them with previous children and know that their body can't handle natural labor

They are very risky and I had to wait until 41 weeks and 3 days to get my first c section and I have back problems and didn't get one and they didn't want to but ended up that they had to

Doctors will not do one 'just because.'  In other words, there has to be a medical reason, because C-sections are major surgery and carry their own risks.

Someone told me that if there was no complications in your pregnancy that they won't allow to get a c-section. But I'm honestly not sure if it's true.
