27 weeks and contractions

Im 27 weeks today and yesterday i was napping on my left side and woke up to sharp pains in my stomach area and my belly was hard.  It went away and never came back so i didnt really think anything of it.  Then last night as i was sleeping, again on my left side, i woke up to the same thing, this one just lasted a little longer.  I could still walk and what not but it hurt.  So i decided that i would sleep sitting up in a chair instead.  Ive never had a child before so i dont know if these were contractions or what?  Should i call my doctor?  I see him on tuesday and i guess i could bring this up to him then, but thought i would ask you ladies since a lot of you know more than i do!  Thanks!

Thanks so much!  I dont have them anymore, i will just get one and then never have it again.  All i drink is water all day long so i know its not that.  But since i had surgery a little over a year ago, i think it hurts more because of my scar tissue.  My sister is an acupuncturist and she has told me that im gonna have my more pains than others because of that, but it still freaks me out!

BH are different for everyone, some people say they hurt and some don't... If yours hurt a LOT, and are equally spaced apart, you should call your doctor. If they're not regular, or go away when you change positions, no worries. Also, make sure youre drinking a ton of water. Being dehydrated can make BH really frequent and painful. Best wishes to you!

It sure sounds like braxton hicks contractions.  They shouldnt scare you unless they come every 5 minutes.
Im on your same boat, reaching my 28 weeks and same thing happens to me.
Take care!
