What kind of lotion is best?

I know I've asked a lot of questions here lately, but I have one more. =D sorry. Has anyone used any lotion to keep from getting stretch marks? If so, what kind is the best? Thanks

No lotion is proven to get rid of or prevent stretch makrs. Some women will get them because of genetics, others because of their own weight and skin elasticity. But you can use lotions to keep your skin healthy and hopefully reduce any stretch marks you may get.

There are all sorts of lotions on the market. I would just pick up something that builds up the elasticity in your skin. Remember, you can get those marks ANYWHERE (thighs, butt, hips, tummy, breasts).

Thanks.I didn't think that a lotion would actually prevent stretch marks, but have heard a few people say that certain kinds did. Even if I do get stretch marks, it will just remind me of my pregnany.

Thanks Again

A good rule of thumb...if your mother has stretch marks...your chances are good for getting them and vice versa.   My mom and i both look like we have the world atlas etched on our bellies...she only had 2...I'm on my 7th pregnancies (if all goes well will be my 5th full term).

Even if you do get them...consider them souvenirs from the miraculous feat of creating a new life.  Whenever you at them instead of thinking how ugly they are....condition yourself to think about your pregnancy...the first time you found out...the first time you felt the baby, first time you had an ultrasound, when you gave birth, etc.  It will help to change your frame of mind about them since there isn't much you can do about them anyway :)

Well the women who used lotions and didn't get stretch marks probably didn't get stretch marks because of their skin's elasticity, not because of the lotion. But definitely use the lotion because your skin will get itchy as it grows, dried out, and it can lessen how deep/big the stretch marks would get.

I used cocoa butter through my WHOLE pregnancy and got bad stretch marks on my outter hips and booty..lol. Also very small ones on my lowers stomach. If that wasn't bad enough and I thought I was done getting them, I got MORE in my inner thighs DURING the delivery.....so I guess it just depends on your body. I was using a walmart brand cocoa butter because it was cheaper and I was using so much of it. but I think this time around when I get preg I'm gonna use palmer's. I've heard it's great even if it is more exp.

I used palmers cocoa butter. Pregnancy skin can tend to get dry also so using a lotion would benefit from the itchiness and dryness.

I used palmers tummy or belly butter is like in a flat jar kinda thing.  I kinda thick. It may not stop stretch marks but it really makes your belly skin smooth and last all day. I love it~d

I used "Mothers Friend" during my first pregnancy- since around here they discontinued it, I am using Palmer's Tummy Butter now. Both smell really good and help with the itchy-ness, but I have plenty of stretch marks and am gettin more with this one* Actually my boyfriend thinks they are sexy, cause they show Im a mother and I am carrying his child. Their not that bad*
