No yolk sak

Today I am suppost to be roughly five weeks pregnant.  I went to get an ultra sound and they could not locate a yolk sak, I have miscarried before and am worried about the probability of it happening again.  Is this normal?  Also they did my first HCG test today and they are going to do another of Friday to have something to compare the levels against to see if they are increasing or decreasing.  HELP

Five weeks is so early! I'm surprised they even did an U/S on you, my OB didn't until 6W3D and even then he tried talking me into waiting! I wouldn't worry, most women don't see it until around 6-7 weeks, even then you might not see it. You're probably perfectly normal, so I wouldn't worry! :] Relax, I know it's hard having had a miscarriage before, but stressing is the worst thing for you! Honestly, I don't think there's anything wrong with you at all. unless you're having cramps or bleeding, don't worry! :]

I'm with Kimberlee... the first and only ultra sound I had was when I was 7wks 3dys and there was a definat yolk sack.  However, I'm not sure about prior to that, also I think there is a possiblity that it's still forming as well.  And if you're having doubts about it, then I would call your OB and ask him/her whats going on with it.

That is REALLY early. I've had miscarriages before to and with my last I had one little pain and freaked out and ran to the hospital and I was only like around 5-6 weeks and NOTHING showed. The OB on call even told me before she did the ultrasound like we won't be able to see anything but we'll try! And my HCG counts were pretty high, almost to the point I thought uh oh could I be having twins? LOL but even with my HCG that high they still didn't see anything. And now she's a very healthy 2 yr old running around! So don't sweat it. That's very early, once you see your levels you will feel better. I didn't see anything until I believe 7w 3d. Good luck, keep us posted!

Thats very early.  When you go back are they going to do anouther ultrasound?  I bet that when you go back there will be some thing there.  I went for my first at almost 7 weeks an there was only a sac.  I went back a week later an there was a heart beat.  So don't give up hope... Its probably nothing.  God Bless, Anita

I got an ultrasound at 5w3d and all we saw was a gestational sac at 5w6d I received another ultrasound and this time we saw a yoke sac as well. At such an early stage even a couple days can make a HUGE difference.
